From Afghanistan’s National Army and Air Force to Afghanistan’s National Police, women officers are very much at the forefront of Afghan gender integration. Currently there are approximately 2000 women serving in the Afghan National Police and roughly 800 women serving in the Afghan Air Force and Army. Furthermore, the Afghan military and police are leading efforts to raise the number of females serving to 10 percent over the next decade. The concern, however, is that without the support of their male counterparts any initiative to encourage women to serve in Afghanistan’s military might not be as successful as possible. What is your perspective and view on this?
