there is worldly punishment and there is punishment from god. one can steal and have his hand chopped off but still be forgiven by god if there is repentance.Originally posted by Cobra View PostAre you saying that any sinner can just say i repent and their record is clean?
why do you have Sharia law with all of its creative and punishments if God was nice enough to let people go with a i repent.
a person is given a clean slate when they enter into islam.
as for drinking there is no clear punishment but the sahaba would go around beating the drunkards. There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

And Alcohol was allowed during the tenure of the other prophets. it just that those desert Arabs would be so drunk that they couldn't pray in proper form. And Hamza's horribly disrespect to the Prophet when he was way to twisted and around girls.Originally posted by randolph85 View Postthere is worldly punishment and there is punishment from god. one can steal and have his hand chopped off but still be forgiven by god if there is repentance.

having real (not the Islam Is my "religion" route) faith of God, his prophets and their mission is what really counts at the end of the day,

A thief who steals might do so out of desperation. A person who gets drunk and ends up committing acts which are morally and socially taboo, that is not breaking the law but it is a break of the moral code which is a direct breach of God's trust.Originally posted by randolph85 View Postthere is worldly punishment and there is punishment from god. one can steal and have his hand chopped off but still be forgiven by god if there is repentance.

In Islam alcohol is not forbidden, getting drunk is forbidden. Most of Muslim heros were drunkards. Zangi who was the first true leader of Muslims against crusaders always got drunk to the point of collapse. One night he got really drunk as usual and fell asleep, he woke up sometime later and saw his eunuch eating from his plate of food, which was left there for him. He got enraged and told the eunuch that he was too drunk just then but first thing in the morning he will deal with the eunuch. The eunuch in fear that Zangi might kill him in the morning, picked the knife from the fruit plate and stabbed Zangi to death.
That is how the great Zangi, leader of Muslims against crusaders died, stabbed by his own eunuch over a food fight.

There is no worldly or other wordy punishment. If you do something morally reprehensible you hurt the feelings of those that you're related and that hurt of the feeling of others is the crime not the act itself.Originally posted by randolph85 View Postthere is worldly punishment and there is punishment from god.
If you're all alone and you do whatever you wish and no one gets hurt you have not done anything wrong.
If you hurt others by immorality of acts then no godly or worldly punishment will make the hurt of those people heal. because since they have relation to you if you get hurt by punishment their hurt is doubled and so is your sin.
There is no cure for a reprehensible act neither in punishment nor in penance. A bad act is a bad act like a mountain is a mountain it cannot go away.
