A forum without ads

Is it at all possible to run a forum without having to sell one's soul to google ads? While I use ad-block, I know for sure that those cheap ads with all sorts of typical internet crap and vulgar content can be off-putting to most people, especially Afghans. Cheap ads creates a bad impression of a website, especially a forum.

The bots scan your cache/pick up key words in the postings and hence the 'customised' ads. But yeah, annoying. I think the BBC are the only very big media organisation that can claim to be ad free, not that they are perfect mind.

I use ad-block, so I don't see ads. I also don't browse for dating sites, pornography etc. so my browser cache is free of stuff like.

The point is, that you cannot talk about Islam, Pashtunwali and then have ads running which are basically illegitimate scams... And the money that is earned by such ads is not the right money. But I don't need to tell you that, you're so many years ahead of me in your intellect and Islamic knowledge.

I once had a free forum, with five or six legit members, more than this forum, and we did not have ads, we did not pay and everything worked fast.

If the money is spent on forum database, then its a waste. All posts after one week should be deleted, there is no need for it. There is no need for a database or archive.

But then Tor-Khan started to help pashtuns and ended up working for google.

Mother, if you read my reply to Tro_Jaan, I did say I have ad-block, I simply have a problem with making a haram living, or running something with haram money.

That is a valid question. But, its also a horse that has been beaten for almost five or six years now.
