And these people want to bring democracy and freedom to Afghanistan... What kind of upbringing, what kind of social structure, what kind of culture breeds this sort of mentality.
The USA is a nation of 300 million human beings; this does NOT represent 'American values'; don't make a fool out of yourself by generalizing. In similar logic, Bacha Bazi does NOT represent Afghans. Good and bad, terrible humor, senseless, and humans with brains the size of peanuts, exists in all societies.
Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.
A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai
For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."
The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!
that may be so, and i'm not sure i follow, but how does this picture fit into all that is american values?
America is a country of addictions, and comedy is another addiction, after all what is comedy? it is a pleasure, so when there is pleasure, people want more of it. When nothing is funny anymore, a coffin with silly poses becomes funny.
I longer laugh at jokes, I only laugh at irony and sometimes at tragedy... For example in the news there was a clip about a girl mourning her fiance who was killed during demonstrations in Kiev. I found it laughable because she said, 'my fiance died for freedom'. It was funny because had you asked her what is freedom, she would have no clue, but since We're All Living in Amerika - Rammstein (English Subtitles) - YouTube, freedom has become the word for all useless causes. So, that is the disease of American values.
in 1869, mark twain says, " the political and commercial morals of the united states are not merely food for laughter, they are an entire banquet". having mentioned this, shortly after reading this quote, i came to the realization of the fact that values are not necessarliy based on one aspect of morality but that there are various other branches that combine together to make what is known as cultural values. and though one aspect of it might influence the other and have disastrous effects on the collective course of a population over time , they do not entirely define a population or what is commonly known as a 'society'.
"To burn always with this hard gemlike flame, to maintain this ecstasy, is success in life."
