A more important question is, is it possible to trust someone that you dislike? For instance would you buy something from a shop if you dislike the sales person? You might if you have no option but in most cases you won't.
Liking and trust are interlinked, we trust people that we like.
Love is trust. If you don't trust someone you simply don't love them, even if you think you do. Thinking is never real, its transient. Our thoughts change with our moods, and even something as simple as a headache can change our mood and hence our thinking.
But lets explore love, what is love?
Love is desire. For instance lets say I love a woman for A, B, C, reasons, that I can surmise, but in actuality all I want is that woman in her totality, I desire her, mentally, emotionally and physically. Now, could I love her if I disliked her or did not trust her? No. For one my intellect will not fall with emotions and that will cause inner conflict and therefore doubt, which will translate into neurosis. Love neurosis manifests itself in jealousy, irrational anger and resentment. Jealousy is a 100% sure sign that you don't love the person... Yes, mild jealousy is natural, but jealousy as an all consuming behavior, such as Othello is clearly a sign that there is no love, its all distrust and inner conflict... Personally I was really relived that my woman did not show any malevolent jealousy despite serious provocation.
Ideally people should like and trust you without you trying to make them like and trust you.
After all, when you try to make people like and trust you, you already assume that they don't like and trust you. And by extension its possible that you don't like and trust yourself and hence worry if people feel the same way about you.
There is no such a thing as "how", if you want people to like and trust you, like and trust yourself first.
