  • some cultures enjoy life more

I have noticed that there some cultures that enjoy life more.

Westerners, Americans, Europeans etc.... love to enjoy life, we all know that

But also I notice many arabs: Lebenese, Egyptians, Gulf Arabs etc... they also enjoy life to the core

I have many non muslim Indian friends, who again really love enjoying life and try to experience all of life's flavors

Persians, obviously. they are known for partying

But then there are some cultures, like (Pakistanis) who are very dull, and are basically anti life. especially after a certain age, people from this culture absolutely give up on life. why though???? I really dislike being part of this group, pakistanis are among the most anti life people I have seen, not all obviously, but majority of them.

What about Afghans??? how are they?

How do you define enjoyment? There are many people that find living an ascetic life, free from material wealth, to be quite rewarding and pleasurable.

Plus, just because someone looks happy on the outside, it doesn't mean they are happy on the inside.

I am an Afghan, and am enjoying my life through academics, creative writing, martial arts and running. I hold onto my spiritual fate when times are very difficult. I enjoy sharing precious moments with my family (i.e. eid , weddings, birthday). My goal is to live a life in balance and moderation.

At the end of the day, it is only you who can find happiness in your life. Not your culture.

^ some times cultural forces stop you from enjoying life, that's what I mean

Enjoyment could be anything indeed, be it traveling, going to restaurants, partying, whatever..... you are right that depends on individual, however there are some cultures that stop you from enjoying life, in what ever way you want to enjoy.

Pakistan has proved that the hairy malignant ape is a crazy psycho with a rotten mind and a future in an asylum. She's a slanderous insane kun deewana who ruined the reputation of her own sister over some stupid stuff, and tried to slander her cousin because she makes her ugliness and insanity all too obvious.

But the icing on the cake is that she was going to "marry" the same guy whom she accused of raping her sister.

If next time the hairy biatch is even heard mentioning the name of the guy or his woman, her brother in law will get a phone call.

                everyone enjoys life,

some people snort coke off a strippers butt, others chill with family. its cultural.
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

I don't think all Westerners "enjoy" life in the truest sense. If one compared the average American to the average French national, one would find stark differences in many aspects of their life.

Look at the food the average American eats: Large quantities of junk. Empty calories that provide neither short term satisfaction nor long term health benefits. Besides, cultures that decorate those who can eat or drink the most can hardly be considered civilized.

The French, on the other hand, eat small quantities of some of the best food one can find. They are healthier, better-looking, and much more cultured than many other Western nations.

Anyway, one shouldn't be deceived by the facade that some people enjoy life more than others. Overindulgence in anything (especially bad things) leads to undesirable outcomes. The key is to strive for balance; enjoyment will follow.

in my teens I was enjoying life to the core, but adult life is mostly boring. There comes a point in life, when most things seem pointless, I guess marriage may help though.

Over all this thread reminds me of this again:

Cultures do matter to enjoy life or otherwise. Religion also if taken part of the culture play tremendous role in this regard. As a tourist or resident I have passed some time in different societies including Afghan, Pakistani, Asian, Arab, Spanish, Italian, French, American, Latin American, African etc. What I have seen that formal ritual religion is always anti life and anti happiness.

For example imagine the life pf a salafi wahabi Muslim. His wife usually an obese person as she most of the times remain locked in the four walls or if goes out with her hijab which inhibit her movement. No music, no poetry, no dance, no fine art, no sculpture, no paintings, no pictures, no cinema, no singing, no wine, no beer, all haram. His life is just to eat , sleep and issue fatwas. How can one enjoy life in this way.

How a Buddhist monk or a christian father will enjoy life. Oriental people including Chinese are usually very shy, introspect and usually not very communicative. How a jew will enjoy life with his/her Talmud and searching all the time kosher. Muslims do not go on tourism if the so called halal food is not there.

In religions Catholicism is always the most catholic. It does not prohibit you of anything. You can do what you want and eat any food you like. Sufi Islam is also very liberal.

Punjabis and Tajiks in our context enjoy more than Pashtuns. Pashtuns are closed, conservative , traditional and now extremely religious.

Over all this thread reminds me of this again:

Health and company are very important as well as material resources. Quran does not stop you to enjoy life as rabbana atena fiduna hasana is a balance. hasana can be enjoyment.

Always the middle path, the equilibrium is good. A glass of wine can be good but a drum can kill you. Similarly a drum of pure mineral water drinking at the same time can also kill you. Excess of everything is bad.

Have a wife or a girl friend. Healthy food and exploring the world can be great enjoyment. Earn well, save and spend intelligently and learn more, have a social cause and help others. This is all enjoyment. Enjoyment has no age limit.
