my point is this: religious people who lay claim to a need for a one to one correlation between objective morality and god, they are making a false assumption. the point is, even if Objective Morality does exist, one must still use critical thinking. One must use critical thinking to separate one religion form another and to separate one religious proclamation from another, even within the same religion. and furthermore, except in the case of extreme fundamentalists, one must use critical thinking to separate religious decree from every day personal and political life.

the problem here is that humans have a tremendous variance in what is expected from god, and this vast variation in the concept of god is more associated with human vanity and cultural differentiation. however the concept of a higher consciousness is quite different. since we assume humans have consciousness, we thus associate this with the possibility of higher levels to it, the basis of the concept of a god. infinity could very well fit the description of a higher consciousness. the ultimate infinite consciousness. what remains to be seen or discovered is if this infinite consciousness actually cares about any of its finite components. or maybe it allows these conscious components to do the caring and leaves such up to them. If this is the case, then the relevance of god is not important to the relevance of humanity. Humanity has accomplished much that is positive and also much that is negative. Which begs the question. are we or can we ever be in balance between these positive and negative polarities? which may be the only real purpose we have in our association with the concept of god. That we should be evolving closer to the concept of god.
