Machan Khels

What do you people know about this tribe ? It is a part of Marwat tribe but there are traditions that it was a Jat tribe previously living in Mianwali alongside Niazis but later exiled by Niazis to Lakki Marwat due its bad reputation and involvement in crimes.

Derogatorily called Maichan Khels because it was a tribe of cobblers (mochi or maichi in Pashto dialect means cobbler), later it was called "Machan Khels" (Machan Khels literally means "tribe of flies" and "mach" means a "fly") by fellow Marwats and Niazis because of their numbers and intrusive habits.

Some Marwats were complaining to me it is bringing bad name to Marwats.

Can any body for example Luffy tell us more about Machan Khels?

Machan or michin baba was a pir, a wali whose ziarat (shrine) is in wana, south waziristan. He and his descendants are associated with snakes. It is said that he used to use snakes for his "kut"(charpai)....if you visit his ziarat today you would find large number of snakes on the ground in the area of ziarat......michin khels are pirs or shiekhs who are famous for "damuna" specially for snake bites and it is also claimed that one on the "mansab" can not be poisoned by snake bite...

During akbar times marwats migrated from afghanistan , first settled in tank then attacked lakki where Niazis were settled. Niazis were defeated, all of them were either killed or chased towards present day mianwali. Only machan khels were spared because of their neutral status in the war and because of their religous status. Currently there are 8 villages of michin khels in lakki marwat.
