Where do the poor keep their money?

Where do the poor people in countries like pakistan/afghanistan keep the money they earn? I doubt they have bank accounts, because even simple banking requires some knowledge and education. by poor I mean people lets say working as labors

Various locations in the house..... In sandooq usually (what is sandooq called in english?) ,inside pillow, clever ones keep it in unsuspicious locations...for example in some box in the kitchen, ....In our village home we were hiding some cash inside the room filled with woods, dried dung, coal and baray(grass-like desert used for fire)... Some people even bury it.....

Yea pashtun women do tie money to their chunai (chadar), the garlic part is very interesting though it is new to me....Would ask about it.
