Why is there a "After 16 weeks gestation" abortion counter? There is a lot of argument about "When does life begin" ? It would seem to be pretty hard for anyone to argue that a baby at 16 weeks gestation "is just a blob of tissue" based on what the scientific community knows today about the development of a baby at 16 weeks:

- The body is fully formed, the fingers and toes have fingerprints & nails.

- Is about 5 inches long and weighs about 3 ounces.

- The baby is moving about: may grasp for the umbilical cord , suck it?s thumb, and make facial expressions

- The heart & circulatory system and the urinary tract are fully functioning. and the blood is pumping through these tiny veins

- The baby is inhaling and exhaling the amniotic fluid through the lungs.

-The eyes are in the proper position, and the baby can see straight ahead & blink his/her eyelids.

- The genitals have formed. In the case of a girl, the uterus has already developed and the ovaries are in the proper place.

The Qur'an clearly disapproves of killing other humans: “Take not life which Allah has made sacred” (6:151; see also 4:29 “If a man kills a believer intentionally, his recompense is Hell, to abide therein (for ever)” (4:93).Allah (SWT) went even further, making unlawful killing of a single individual human being equal to mass murder of the whole of mankind: "Because of that, We ordained for the children of Israel that if anyone killed a person not in retaliation for murder or for spreading mischief on earth, it would be as if he killed all mankind. And who saved a life, it would be as if he saved all mankind." (Al-Maidah, 5:32)
As to whether abortion is a form of killing a human, the Qur'an does not make any explicit statements. Only Surah 17:31 warns believers in general: “Kill not your children for fear of want. We shall provide sustenance for them as well as for you. Verily the killing of them is a great sin.”

What I don't get is this: if the time of death was pre-destined then these baby's would have died anyway?

Also, if these abortions since 1980 never happened there would be 1 and a 1/4 billion more people in the world now possibly more because those billion people would have their own kids, if I recall correctly, scientists were saying the world is already over populated and humans are eating away the resources at an unsustainable rate. Make you wonder what difference another 2-3 billion people would make.
