  • Skin and hair colour of Pashtuns.

Assalam alaikum my Pashtun brothers and sisters!
Today I want to share with all of you something I have come across on many Pashtun forums on the Internet. Many Pashtun brothers and sisters try to prove how fair skinned and light haired Pashtuns are,and that they look like European/western people. Then if someone posts pictures of dark skinned Pashtuns, they argue that these are fake pictures etc.I just want to say two things regarding this. 1)Please dont waste time on such useless topics, skin colour is something Allah has given to each person. Our religion Islam says that people are not superior because of colour, rather because of piety and good character.Nobody can help what their skin and hair colour is.
2)On another note, its my personal opinion that dark skinned, dark haired men look more rugged and manly as compared to fair skinned, light haired ones.Dont you people think so?
    Please give your opinions.

Man we're South/Central Asian, obviously we'd look brown to an extent sure there are some odd ones out that have those European features but majority of us are dark skinned/dark haired and so on. But what you said is correct, even on some Pakistani channels they always say how light skinned and light haired Pashtuns and Kashmiri's are and it's sad to see because it's just a generalization, a false generalization tbh. But yeah hope one day people realize.

I've lived in Afghanistan aswel as Pashtunkhwa in Pakistan, also have seen many Pashtuns in the west. I'd say 40% of Pashtuns are white and 20% are dark, the other 40% are 'ghanam rung' basically olive/tanned/light brown.

Hmmm, and another thing which I said, that in men, being dark skinned and dark haired looks rugged and manly more as compared to fair skin and light coloured hair....Though again I say that I do not have bias against any colour as Allah made all of us.

I personally think its the media/entertainment that is promoting light skin when in reality they themselves are dark skinned

Depends on the features of the person, you see soft looking black people, rough looking white people and vice versa.

Why so many threads about Race, Genetics and about what people look like???? We all come from one guy from the Garden of Eden, and that's all that matters.

And for Muslim Punjabi people it's 10 % White, 60% 'ghanam rung' and 40% dark... For Tajiks, Tajiks are the same as Pashtuns.

For Hazaras, well Hazara people still live the really cold center of Afghanistan which is why they're all light skinned, but if you changed the facial features of Hazara people from Mongolian mix to full caucasian, would hazaras look like they have lighter skin than Pashtuns and Tajiks or Darker skin? What about Uzbecks,Kyrgyz and Turkmens, if they all had Caucasian faces and no longer mongolian faces, would they look white or tanned olive?

But Khyber Pass is true about Punjabis and Pashtuns, if we didn't take color into factor and only shape, physical similarities by between Pashtuns and Punjabis are evident, but so are Tajiks are closer(if not the closest major race) to Pashtuns but ultimately also would have to share similarities between Punjabis
