  • Tajiks???

well well well, look what I found out... looks like Tajiks are actually Arabs

The term Tajik, it is said, is derived from the ancient Persian name for the Arab.

Here you go DZJ, you're more Arab than I will ever be.

No offense though, Tajiks are my favorite type of Arabs.

      Pan-Arab Tajik group

Today I created the Pan-Arab Tajik group.

The goal of this group is to promote Tajik-Arab culture and Tajik-Arab history so that all Tajiks of Arab heritage can come back to their roots.

In Armenian actually the word Tatjik (with Tj not Dj) meant Arab or Turk. Now the word is out of use, but initially it meant only Arab.
Later the meaning changed and Turkey was called Tatjkastan(later to internationalize the country name was changed to Turqia)

However the word similarity may be casual. I thought Tajik derived from Taj meaning something like crown?

I suppose that you can find the same word in Shahnameh in the description of Zahak/Dahak's country

My understanding is that Tajik, Tazek, are the 'real' Persians, and if such is the case, then does it imply Persian = Arab?
Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

^ Admin, Afghanistan's Tajiks don't really have a common past or history the way Pashtuns do, at least per my understanding. They may have Arab, Indian, Persian, or Mongol origins, yet they are lumped together as Tajik for speaking Dari.

From what I've noticed, Tajiks steal Persian accomplishments and claim it as their own the way Arabs steal Berber accomplishments and claim it as their own.

A Tajik will always mention Avicenna the way an Arab will mention Averroès.

Clearly there is something in common among Tajiks and Arabs.

I'm not surprised to learn that Tajiks are actually Arabs.

Tajiks are Mongols lol they have no history in Afghanistan.

                      They are practically persianized pamiris.

Well Ibn Sina was not from Persia, actually Tajiks should be more right than Persians in this sense. Uzbeks btw also say that Avicenna was Uzbek.

Dear Kushan Prince , decide please, Mongols and Pamirians are too different peoples, as physically as culturally..

Arevapasht using 'btw' needs a thread on its own.

Ibn Sina was most probably an Uzbek of Persian culture, therefore not a Tajik.

Huh ? Originally "Tajik" means "Arab".

It is only now that it has adopted the meaning of "someone who has Persian culture".

Tajiks are Persianized Arabs. Racially they're originally Arabs.
