The only thing I know waitrose is good for is non-homogenised milk, grips one from there next time you go, breakfast and tea will never be the same.

I am addicted to news and the idea of writing a scientifically inspired novel about the "history of energy",.....how human beings discovered the fire by burning wood (1st solar periode), industrialisation, use of fossil energy and now entering the 2nd solar periode while the fossil energy reserves are melting away.

A dialogue between a father and a son who talk about mankinds way to centralize everything while developing into modern sociaties and decentralizing everything including energy production and storage while becoming post-modern world.
      The only constant is change.

That dialogue between father and son about energy sounds familiar. There was a novel called Sophie's World about 10 years ago where there is a dialogue through letters between a girl and another figure, uncle/father? Where she discovers history of science.

No no, Sophie´s World is about philosophy and how it developed during the course of time.

The history of energy and it´s distribution is closely connected to the sociaty forms at those times and their political structures.

It´s fascinatin that energy was "produced" in a decentralized way (for example collecting wood from the woods nearby and burning it) when sociaty itself was decentralized consisting of many micro-sociaties coexisting next to each other without much exchange.
That rapidly changed when compounds like coal, oil and gas were discovered who were at first transformed locally but gave rise to an industry that could transform it to other forms of energy and relied heavy on it afterwards. Like the idea of nation stats for example came into existense in the early 18th centuries and that was only possible because people for example in middle europe could with the help of technology and centralized distribution of energy could travel by modern means (trains etc.) and experience the surrounding areas and connect with people culturally and linguistically.

Will a decentralized distribution of energy in the future in form of solar panels, wind generators, geothermal energy etc. lead again to autonomy on social and political level?

                Thats a very interesting question.

Yeah you are correct, it was philosophy (sophie's world).
BTW i think you are spot on to high light energy and civilisation, i haven't come across anything on energy and society at literary level, like the popular writer bryson. Man you have a lot of ground to cover, from the primordial lightning strikes, to the flintstome, through to animal fat candles and to the stephenson and watt engines and the industrial revolutions, oh, almost forgot, vacuum energy and energy at planck level. Viel gluck, wish you all best in your pursuit.
