Randomly came across this thread when I was searching for something.
I respectfully disagree Tjanaparh. From a young age I had played historical strategy games like Age of Empires, Age of Empires II, Empire Earth, Pharaoh, Cossacks, Age of Mythology, Rome: Total War, Medieval II: Total War, Stronghold: Crusader, Civilization IV etc. I learned many things that I still remember and was inspired to learn many more.
So basically, It depends what sort of game it is. If you are picking up hookers & shooting random black people then I would agree but if you are learning about strategies employed by old armies, historical figures, religions, civilisations, wars etc then that's a different story. Of course, moderation is key.
I still remember feeling really sad & empty when I learned about Joan of Arc's fate when I played Age of Empires II as a kid with my brother.
You play civ? IV or V?
As for me, I own a 360 but I don't play it (actually have never played it online despite having it for like 4 years). I very rarely play video games these days.
