with all the talk about gun control lately i was wondering if there were any gun nuts here. i never understood the obsessive nature people have towards fire arms. i am not anti gun but some people are just straight weird about guns and own several types for no reason in particular. i have some cousins that own high powered rifles and go shooting from time to time, some target practice and some hunting, but i get the vibe that they just want to show off, its kind of like tattoos. anyone want to shed some light on this?

Any gun nuts here?
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.
Sayyid Qutb -
I never understood the desire behind guns.Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.
A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai
For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."
The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

I'm a firearms enthusiast. I grew up with guns in Pakistan, father had lots of stuff, mostly Kalashnikov variants, Makarovs and TT33s or .30 bore. He usually carried the .30 bore on him everywhere he went. I remember asking him why he had guns like that, just all about the house you know. He said basically that if a man younger and stronger than himself or maybe a group of men ever broke in that well basically they could kill us all and rape and kill my mother but these guns put us on equal ground and give us the ability to defend ourselves against anyone regardless of who they are or how many there are. That with these you can put an immediate end to any situation and if anyone ever tries to enter our place he'll send them straight to the hellfire with a hole in their head.
Now I'm an adult and live in the US and have the same view of firearms as him. I have a small arsenal I suppose but unless there's other enthusiasts on here I'm not going to bother listing everything specifically but in short most of my rifles are AK pattern stuff, an H&K 91/G3 and some Sig Sauer, H&K and Glock pistols among other random stuff. I have a carry permit and never leave the house without a handgun concealed somewhere on my person. Alhumdulillah I was carrying last year as my wife and I were leaving a grocery market some low life probably drunk sped into the space next to us really fast and slammed on the brakes really hard. My wife already sensed trouble and went over behind the other side of the car. So the idiot gets out of the car, slams the door, it's some obnoxious looking white American military looking low life. He stops stands about 2.5 or 3 meters in front of me and says, "f**kin Muslims everywhere I go". I just stand there staring at him then busted out laughing at him, didn't say a word, just stood there staring laughing then maintained my stare with what was probably a pretty irritating smile because I wasn't about to take my eyes off this nut. Well, I guess laughing at him hurt his pride or something. Then he says, "you haji motherf**ker, ya think that's f**kin funny?" I just kept smiling, nodded my head and said, "hilarious". Now I don't know where he learned the word haji but anyway after that exchange he tells me, "you need to get the hell out of my country" and starts slowly walking towards me. By this time I had already assessed that I may have to open fire on this idiot and had defaulted to my defensive training. I had unsnapped the latch on my holster and had my hand on the grip waiting for his move. He mumbled something incoherent and took another step towards me closing the gap between me and him way too close to keep holding off. I wiped the stupid smile from my face abruptly, took one huge step backwards and drew my H&K USP .45, told him "one more step towards me I'll fill you full of enough lead to anchor a boat, boss" Once I drew on him my adrenaline did something, I don't remember exactly what happened just time seemed to stand still. I remember his eyes got as big as saucepans before he turned around and ran towards the store. Craziest thing, this guy was probably 40 years old, really wouldn't expect that sort of behavior from anyone older than early 20s. This happened around 2 in the afternoon in broad daylight. Before that I had rarely ever carried during the day because I just didn't see the possibility of danger until at least after dark but since that day I never go out anywhere at anytime unarmed. So that's my story.
Honestly i have very little expectations that anything too serious will become of this in terms of so called gun control but others see it differently. I predict in the end Obama will simply talk big in front of media to appease his supporters. At the end of the day I just don't see anything like the gun grabbers would like to see being passed. It's important to also note the limitations of Obama's power.

How long did it take you to make this story up?Originally posted by MalangKhan View PostI'm a firearms enthusiast. I don't know what's wrong with you, don't care though. Happened last year in the parking lot of an Aldi market in Fairfax county Virginia. Are you that much of a smart a** in real life as on the Internet? I recounted the entire story with as much explicit detail as I can remember. I've never shared it in public before because most of the firearms forums where people would recount those types of situations are primarily populated with people who aren't very fond of people like myself.

You don't need guns, you need your fists, with which you can pierce the body of your opponent.
Train your body !
If you are not able, then you certainly need other equipment, like fighting sticks and other tools.High achievement always takes place in the framework of high expectation.

I like guns but only sniper rifles and long distance shooting.
I like the fact that you have to train, understand the physics behind it, how to roughly calculate for yourself wind direction, distance and how the projectile will hit the target etc.
For me it´s a game between man and nature, a controlled explosion accelerating a piece of copper, friction and gravity influencing the path of the projectile.....it´s exciting.
Using it as something to show off with is weird.
And it´s good that not every Tom and Harry can purchase or possess one where I live. The only constant is change.

taining yourself would be good in europe where the gun laws are extremely tight.

I think fascination with sala goes back to prehistory beginning with a sharpened stone, and later in history with swords of sorts. Muslims have used the saif, pulwar, talwar, khanjar. Its mentioned often in the quran, it must have been close at hand. There is a whole sura devoted to the sword.
Apart from the fascination with weaponry, men have been drawn to good horses as coveted objects. In sura imran there is an ayat about a man's desire for land, women, children, horses and cattle.
Men have an appeal for weapons that stems for psyche.
I too find weapons very appealing, without offering a good reason. I would love to have room with some fancy hardware, locked away of course. When ever i am home, there is always a makarov nearby, with me or my brother or friends. I have a working 47 hidden away. I would love to own a decent czech model.
Twice in my life i had my hands on the makarov when forced to travelling at night. Never once i had to pull it out. Alhamdulillah.
i dare not think of consequences of using a weapon.

The way you had explained it made hard to belive. America's messes up when it comes to guns I mean they shoot up elementary schools and the government won't even pass a damm law. I watched bowling for columbine doc by micheal Moore and it truly showed how much americans are gun crazed people. I mean there was this one dude who had a loaded gun under his pillow!Originally posted by MalangKhan View PostI don't know what's wrong with you, don't care though.
