What level of English proficiency are we talking about? For some students passive knowledge of English is sufficient, they can read and don't need to speak/write fluently. People (students) have different needs and priorities. That's what I wanted to say.

Not every student is going to end up as a scientist. There are many graduates who found a good job, are experts in their fields and don't need English at all. So what is the point (from their point of view) to invest in learning the leanguage, which they will not use? If you don't use often a given language you forget it quickly.
So I would say that students who think about scientific career should learn/know English.دلته دم او قدم دواړه په حساب دي - پل په لاره غلط مه ږده بې حسابه

Yes. France, Belgium, and Germany. All knew basic English, especially Germany.Originally posted by یاسمینه View PostHave you ever been to France?
Like I said, countries like Poland, France, Germany, Belgium, and just about any other European/Asian country CAN NOT survive without knowing English, the reverse is not necessarily true. I remember being in Brugge, and asking just about anyone a question in English, and they were able to communicate perfectly.
Most of the world's research is done in English(think the USA which contributes more than any country), and to understand that important research, you must know English. I can not envision a Computer Scientist, or an Electrical Engineer in Russia or Spain or France or Poland trying to succeed in life without English, at an intermediate level at least. The aforementioned is sad, but its certainly true.Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.
A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai
For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."
The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

we were talking about university students purposely using bad grammar, not he importance of English language in academic fields. That was a stupid point brought up by a stupid person to excuse their stupidity because I am sure that French, Russian or whatever else there, do have a grammatical structure that has to be followed. Two plus two is four in every language.

If you mean science - I agree. English is a must. But it does not change the fact that not every student needs to speak English. It is what I think.
France - when I lived there I met many well-educated Frenchmen who didn't speak English. In this country you can be well-educated even if you can't say a single word in English. Some Frenchmen are very proud of it.دلته دم او قدم دواړه په حساب دي - پل په لاره غلط مه ږده بې حسابه

Poor Concentration
Poor Concentration is a feeling of mental fogginess. Our memory just isn’t what it once was or our ability to problem solve or do creative work has decreased. Men with hormone deficiencies sleep less and less soundly, resulting in poor concentration. Poorer quality sleep affects your REM (rapid eye movement) which is important for all sorts of cognitive functions. Over time, those never getting a total of eight hours sleep will experience numerous problems including decreased concentration, extreme tiredness, depression, poor work performance, decreased memory and decreased motor skills. So you can see how different deficiencies create other symptoms.

Use the SQ3R method for reading:- "Survey" the book by skimming for titles, subtitles, captions, and anything else that could be important.
- "Question" by turning all of the titles and subheadings into study questions to track your reading once you finish a chapter or section.
- "Read" to find the answers to your study questions then answer any questions at the beginnings or ends of the chapter to make sure you learned what you needed to.
- "Recite" your questions orally and try to answer them. Use notes from the text but be sure to re-state them in your own words.
- "Review" the reading afterwards to keep it fresh in your mind for when you need it in school

I want an apology from Khostai as soon as he reads this. I am NOT happy. I deserve to be treated with more respect. I am an American, I joined your forum to learn about YOUR culture. I did not leave it, I am still very much a member like I was several days before. I am not a coward to leave so quickly because a couple of kids scoffed me after I politely introduced myself and shared personal information about my life."Do not waste water even if you were at a running stream."-Prophet Muhammad (SAW)

Thank you for your very kind reply. Don't get me wrong, I think the Pashtun culture is overall a curious one but I think that the values we hold in such high regard here in the West still have yet to gain a meaning in your society.Originally posted by kakargirl View PostJoey yes you was polite, and you deserve respect.

And perhaps until you embraced those values, you would not be flunking in school, or in your country-wide affairs for that matter. I am proud to say that all of my four children are doing great in school due to the manner with which my wife and I have raised them. In fact, my whole country is where it is today due to the traditional American values we cherish--respect to oneself and others, perseverance, and hard work. I may have other matters on the side that I disagree with my wife on, such as her unhealthy cooking when she does cook but overall I am happy about our kids and if I do divorce, I will miss them very much."Do not waste water even if you were at a running stream."-Prophet Muhammad (SAW)
