  • Dog stays by dead owners grave for 6 years

Capitan, a German Shepherd, ran away from his family after the burial of his master Miguel Guzman in 2006 and sought out his grave in Villa Carlos Paz, central Argentina.

A faithful dog has refused to leave the side of his dead master's grave for six years, it was reported today.
German shepherd Capitan ran away from home after the death of Argentinian Miguel Guzman in 2006.
A week later Mr Guzman's family went to pay their respects and found the heartbroken pet sitting by his owner's grave, wailing.

Loyal: Capitan has not left the side of Miguel Guzman's grave since 2006 - and sleeps on top of it every night
Since then the grieving dog has rarely left the spot at the cemetery in the town of Villa Carlos Paz, central Argentina.
Mr Guzman bought Capitan as a present for his 13-year-old son Damian in 2005.
He died suddenly in March the next year, but by the time his family had returned home from the funeral Capitan was gone.

Mr Guzman's widow Veronica told Argentina's Cordoba newspaper: 'We searched for him but he had vanished. We thought he must have got run over and died.
'The following Sunday we went to the cemetery and Damian recognised his pet. Capitan came up to us, barking and wailing, as if he were crying.'

His Masters Grave: The German Shepherd ran away from the family home shortly after Mr Guzman's funeral and miraculously found his resting place
She added: 'We had never taken him to the cemetery so it is a mystery how he managed to find the place.
'We went back the next Sunday, and he was there again. This time, he followed us home and spent a bit of time with us, but then went back to the cemetery before it started getting dark.
'I don't think he wanted to leave Miguel on his own at night.'

Protector: Although it has been six years since Mr Guzman's death Capitan proves a faithful companion and guards his grave day and night

Here to stay: Mr Guzman's son Damian has tried to bring Capitan home but he always runs back to the cemetary in Villa Carlos Paz
The cemetery's director Hector Baccega remembers the day he first saw the dog.
He said: 'He turned up here one day, all on his own, and started wandering all around the cemetery until he eventually found the tomb of his master.
'During the day he sometimes has a walk around the cemetery, but always rushes back to the grave. And every day, at six o'clock sharp, he lies down on top of the grave stays there all night.'
Mr Baccega said staff at the cemetery are now feeding and taking care of Capitan.
Mr Guzman's son Damian said: 'I've tried to bring Capitan home several times, but he always comes straight back to the cemetery. I think he's going to be there until he dies too. He's looking after my dad.'
The story is similar to that of Hachiko, an Akita who is said to have waited at a Tokyo train station for its master to return each day for nine years from May 1925, following owner Hidesaburo Ueno's death at work.

There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

the psychic ability to find the grave. how amazing.
many stories about animals having these abilities and finding their way home from hundreds of miles away.
    what incredible loyalty. DOGS rule!!!!!

a dog can take care of themselves but cats cant, so when the owner dies... thats about it for a cat

i was actually just thinking of that scenario

untrue. cats go feral. in australiia feral cats are vermin. they eat the native birds, lizards etc, and grow huge.
some people run them over, if they get the chance

Rabies may be a good enough reason. Licking habits are indiscriminate o0.

What an observation! I also could not understand why dog so beautiful an animal is hated by Muslims. This may be because of some false and fabricated hadith which discourage keeping dogs. I love dogs and don't find any reason that one may hate them.

If rabies is the cause of this hate then the western world should disappear from the map of the world where almost in each house you have a dog. If proper statistics are collected then most of the cases of rabies would be found in Muslim countries where street dogs are so much common as no one want a dog.

Dogs stink and need to be walked at least three times a day. We all know how sensitive and attentive to each other's needs Muslims are. Taking care of a dog might take their focus away from raping each other to prove their point and stuff.
For some odd reason, men prefer dogs over other animals as pets.

I am no bird, and no nest ensnares me.

non commercial would cost less if he was in charge himself which he plans on doing. right now it's n herat but soon it will be in qanadahar.

Its cause we cant have lions as our pets. Dogs are close enough.

I'm not going to jump onto any bandwagon a try to get away with a low-level anti-Muslim swipe by questioning why many Muslims don't like dogs as house pets. I don't much care about the reasons. Personal/animal hygiene counts for a lot and I don't like the way dogs slaver and drool and yes, they do stink when compared with cats or even goats. I do think the dogs that look like wolves e.g. Huskies/German Shepherds etc. look really impressive. I'm just not keen on those dogs bred to have short tempers that sometimes turn on their owners and maul their toddling children.

I have relatives who have dogs and are perfectly happy to keep them. Whenever we visit; they tie up their dogs so there is room on their sofas for us to sit. Last year on Eid morning, necessity dictated that I get into a car that had had a dog in it the previous night. Allah knows whether my lmunz was valid because the dog hairs clung to my kameez partug. Disgusting.

my dog did not sniff at people, lick people, jump on people, and hardly ever barked. he lived outdoors and we lived out in the wilderness most of the time. having animals inside all the time is awful, especially those stinking, health hazards of kitty litter trays.
cats have diseases to spread too and are recommended to not be kept around pregnant women and babies.

one needs to find a REAL dog, if one chooses to have one
