i thought i have seen the tamarix. apparently, it is now an invasive tree in parts of australia, and has replaced eucalyps along river courses and is a high consumer of water.
i have never seen it in flower, to that degree in the pictures, though.

Dear faye, the Tamarix is interesting, it has roots up to 10-15 meters and is highly salt resistant. It is almos the only tree I have seen to grow near dried salt lakes. It is highly adapted to hard conditions, to hot and cold....
So for sure in good conditions it can become invasive.
For the northern desert Tamarix is like the tree of life
