  • Some facts about Bakhth Zamina the Pashto singer

There is a popular belief she was killed by Hikmatyar's men...In reality, she died of cancer. The second fact about her is, her family is in Swat. The third fact about her is, she was lost by her father in gambling to someone from Peshawar who sold her to someone from Kabul---and the buyer/master raised her as a singer.

The selling part is what some informed people say about her. But the death due to cancer has been confirmed to a friend by her sister (now living in Swat).

I see, well I hope it isn't true that she was sold, not sure I'm relieved or saddened that she died from cancer.

Ghazala Javed was from Swat?, she doesn't have the Swatai look, Bakht Zamina and Nazia Iqbal definitely do. I can tell a person is from Swat by their appearance.

She was from Swat, Banr Mahala (Banr Street)---a famous street in Mingora city.

Didn't realise you were veggie. You can have wrijey and masta. Actually freshly cooked rice and yogurt is very good when you have an upset stomach.

Back to topic - Toramana - I was completely unaware that Bakht Zamina was Swati. She was very attractive. Like Ghazala Javed, her death at a young age, is typical show business-like tragic.

When Haroon Bacha left Pakistan, didn't he cite that he was being harassed by the Swati Taliban? Where was he based/living at the time?

Yes, she was from Swat. Her family is still in Swat. There was mystery soroundng her death with most people believing she was killed by Hikmatyar's men when she sang the song "ay sarbaza yara kheja pa morchal bandai" until few journalists knew it from her family members.
