My ancestors are from southern Afghanistan (zabul) though recently we have lived and joined family in north eastern part (Sarobi-Kabul and Gerdi-nangarhar near torkham)
Zabul has beautiful mountains, it is a high plateau, edging on southern hazarajat, the winters are bitter and snow white.
Parts of nangarhar has great views of the mighty spinghar. The oranges and melons are famous.
So I like the south, especially loya Kandahar, loya paktia.
Before didn't think much of north like baghlan or samangan. Thought it is flat, boring, a big river and then the other 'stans' begin over the border.
Nimruz- where is that, what's in Farah, etc.
Now having travelled, the north is appealing. I have so much love for samangan, ghor, balkh, bamiyan. The landscape is beautiful, the people so poor and austere yet proud. The air of baghlan so clean. Salang, Jabal siraj areas have rugged beauty but the debris of rocks and boulders littered spoil it for me.
Tell me what you see in your areas.
