That's the position faced by many farmers in Afghanistan - a country where women and young girls are seen as tradable goods. While the world has been horrified to see an Afghan woman executed for alleged adultery, it's now clear that Afghanistan Government policies, supported by NATO and the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), are fuelling the trade in children.

I am no taliban fan as I have been accused of, but I believe that the occupation is the greater evil for both the Afghans and the Americans. Neither side is winning while blood on both sides are continuing to be spilled uselessly.

those forcing these people to stop growing opium have a responsibility to help pay the debts of these poor farmers or help capture those druglords and get those children back. i am disgusted that they are not.
alternatively, opium should be grown for the legal pharmaceutical trade.

Many of those drug lords and criminal kidnapping gangs have influence in the government and police. Those people have no hope in the government. and even if the criminals get caught, they just pay their way out of it.

according to that doco some of those drug lords, must be living in afghanstan although sounds like most of them are from or go to pakistan to live.
it is a dreadful situation and shows how people are living and have no access to assistance and policing.
