I don't think there has ever been a thread like this.

Anyway, when I first arrived in the city of Peshawar at 5, I thought everyone there was a surgeon becuase they wear that mask.
It turned out they were all allergic to pollen and the Peshawari dust.

the first hotel i went to in herat, in 1977, a young man helped me with my bag, to my room. it was not necessary but his boss instructed him to.
when we got to this room, he followed me in and started offering to give me a massage.
'i give very good massage', he tries to convince me, persistently, not moving out from my room.
after he ignored my requests to be left alone, i finally i had to physically, push him from the room.
when i shut the door, to my suprise and horror. there was no lock on the door!!!
so, that night, i put furniture up against the door.
next day, i went to a new place, where the manager and his friends played music and danced, after having a choof, in the evening.
never a dull moment on the overland trail

      How old were you?

The massage must have come as a shock.

        i was 29, i think.
bit scary when the guy wasn't leaving the room. many little adventures i could tell you. but i really liked afghanistan and always considerd the afghans, 'the wild boys' with a smile.
they were real characters and i spent about 3 weeks, every day, with the men and doing portrait sketches.
some wanted a kiss as well and some stole from me, by not paying for their picture. they would take their portrait, saying,' i show my friend', then not return to pay me. i quickly cottoned on to that trick, though
you know those afghans, tricky chaps, lol.

I shall introduce you to an old friend of mine. He is a 60something year old American who spent alot of his youth in Afghanistan choofing stuff. Lol, come to think of it, he is the male version of you.

I am no bird, and no nest ensnares me.

non commercial would cost less if he was in charge himself which he plans on doing. right now it's n herat but soon it will be in qanadahar.

Most Afghans don't know how to deal with women, especially foreign women.

it is funny. i was in town last week and approached a chap at the coffee shop, where i had ordered a coffee, to buy a ciggy off him. he invited me to sit with him and it turned out, he has been going back and forth to aghanistan and pakistan for about 30 years. he even showed me recent stamps in his passport.
he goes and stays with friends he has made there, for about 3 months every year.
but such a coincidence, that i should start chatting to him, out of all the people around.
we had a good rave but he had to rush off. big beard, baldy head and one of those brown woollen jackets, like i have seen over that way. with a turban he would be totally camouflaged there in afghan/pakistan.

When I was 13 or 14, I managed to quit smoking for almost a year.
Then, a millionaire Mirpuri half-caste friend of my cousin offered me a cigarette at night after iftar in Islamabad. I started smoking again.

The moral here is that karma is a bitch.

The same Mirpuri's younger brother is a sheesha addict and my father is the one who hooked him on it by introducing it to the city and selling it.

A man still has his intentions. Whether good or bad, he will be re-faced with whatever he did to or wished on someone else. That is karma.

                        Karam = action.

I know that, but I believe in it marginally.

I thought you believed in it so I threw it here a few times to appease you.

nice try but it will take more than a few scattered karmas, to win me over.
