  • Anyone ever slaughtered a goat/lamb ?

It seems as though I will have to venture to an animal farm to accomplish this task, youtube hasn't been of much help.

Is there a specific way you slit the throat of the animal ? Im pretty sure they don't just stab it..and what do you exactly recite when you slaughter the animal ?

    Yes, many times.

You say Bismillah first, then Allahu Akbar and quickly slit the throat from right to left OR if its too much for you, just make an incision; a deep cut.

        lol at just stabbing it.

        No, I haven't yet.

I saw a video that had an old Pashtun halal'ing a chicken and he said "bismillah allahu akbar" over and over again in quick succession like Hakim said.
I can't say for certain though so don't rely on me. Perhaps the knowledgable scholar Sheikh Google can help with the details of the Islamic method of slaughter.

Do as shown, make sure the knife is really sharp, do not freak out by the sight of blood and concentrate. You make the cut with your right hand, your knee on the animal and your left hand holding the animal head down/covering the eyes. You say bismillah and start saying Allah Akbar with the first cut until you think you are done cutting. The first cut has to be thorough, from one side of the neck to the other, and deep. If you think it's not, continue to cut with long strikes at the mid after the first till you see that the neck is almost severed and only held by the skin/flesh.

Did I say make sure the knife is SHARP!

Cut straight, fast, and don't forget the Basmallah...let the animal not see your knife,do not frighten it,grab its head and put it upwards, then right in the middle you slit it.

all life exists on the death of other life, and so the death of an animal to feed a person is a necessity determined by our creator
murder is the unrighteous killing of a human being

that's a weak logical argument as second position does not follow from the first.

People do not need to kill animals to live, in fact you can live without it and rely on plant based foods and still live viably. Most of the theories about deficiencies from lacking meat in your diet are either greatly exaggerated or misrepresented.

regardless the need to live on some form of life to survive, does not equate to killing animals, since plants are alive, and are non-sentient. We can always turn to plant based foods. This is true in a society where vegetation and plant based foods are abundant. Like America, Europe and so on.

Tor gul, I will be even kinder if and should I spot a bunch of vultures picking on your eyeballs to prevent themselves from starvation by walking away and ignoring your cries for help.
The smell of raw and texture of cooked meat makes me physically sick.

that is actually the point, they are NOT the same. a person can kill an animal in the most cruel heinous & disgustingly abhorent fashion but they are NOYT commiting murder. murder by definition involves killing a human being.

you are operating on a couple of false assumptions here that are common to the animal rights movement
                            1. the USA is/can produce both the variety & volume of vegetable matter necessary provide a relatively balanced & nutritious diet without any adverse impact brought about by the necessary changes to current farming practices. already of necessity the USA imports about half the fruits & vegetables it consumes from Latin American countries. the farming industry in the USA estimates that, in order to meet the nutritional needs of an all vegetarian america, it would have to cease production for export AND nearly double the land area in cultivation. while that sounds like no big deal, it must also be remembered that it would also double the volume of water being used for irrigation & the amount of pesticides being applied to crops. water is already a tremendous issue in the desert states of the southwest which are already the primary early & late crop producers of the fruits & vegetables grown in the USA. the additional pesticides would double the amount of poisons in the surface waters perhaps more since since the riparian buffers would have to be reduced or eliminated to put sufficient land in cultivation. all of that is based on current population without consideration for population growth.
                            2. you're falsely assuming a vegetarian diet does not necessitate the killing of animals. in the state of Texas alone 1-2 million feral hogs/wild boar destroy 1 BILLION dollars worth of crops EVERY YEAR. between 250,000-300,000 feral hogs are killed every year trying to protect crops. deer cause about half as much crop damage in Texas and are killed in about the same numbers. a single raccoon can ruin as much as 1/10 of an acre of corn (maize) in a single night.
about 20 years ago I help with a deer cull to protect 3 fields of corn & peanuts that totaled about 1000 acres. using large spot lights and rifles we shot a gross amount of deer (just the ones in the fields & in the woods within sight of the fields totaled 63). the game warden (a cop that enforces wildlife laws) made us put them all in a huge hole and bury them as it was illegal for anyone to use the meat (fortunately the laws have since changed in most places and the meat may now be donated to feed the poor). i did not participate in the other two culls. had the culls not taken place the deer would have completely consumed all 1000 acres of crop by the end of june before they were ripe for harvest. although i understood the need for it, the sight of all those deer being buried made me want to vomit.
so anyone that thinks being a vegetarian means no animals are killed to feed you, you are gravely mistaken.

No you're presenting straw man argument, I said we live in a society with an abundant supply of plant based resources; This is much different than producing our own fruits and vegetables; You have a hard time with reading comprehension it seems. Just mindlessly parroting whatever you were brainwashed with, never having any analytical response.

There is no "necessity" to kill the animals, this is a False Causation Fallacy. Industrial Farming is a separate issue altogether, the point still stands that vegetarian diets are possible and plant based resources are available.

Your argument is merely straying into tangents.

so anyone that thinks being a vegetarian means no animals are killed to feed you, you are gravely mistaken.
The argument is about necessity; if people like you mismanage soil and resources; this is the fault of the managers, not the dietary production. There is no scientific principle that requires plant food production to kill animals. The problem is clearly people like yourself. You even admit it, you were involved in poor land management.

the farming industry in the USA estimates that, in order to meet the nutritional needs of an all vegetarian america,

you mean like The China Study?

The authors conclude that people who eat a plant-based/vegan diet—avoiding animal products such as beef, pork, poultry, fish, eggs, cheese, and milk, and reducing their intake of processed foods and refined carbohydrates—will escape, reduce, or reverse the development of chronic diseases. They also recommend adequate amounts of sunshine to maintain sufficient levels of vitamin D, and supplements of vitamin B12 in case of complete avoidance of animal products
