It's actually merci and it's French for thank you. I don't know why, but Iranians borrow a lot of words from French even though they usually already have existing words to use for whatever term they're borrowing. But, I've noted though that Iranians from villages don't usually use merci they use moteshikeram, tashakor or mamnoon for thank you.

Merci means thanks in French, yes. Persian is an Indo-European language, and it better borrows vocabulary from other Indo-European languages, than from mongrelic ones.

tashakor, moteshakor, mamnon, etc. are arab words and Persians, as Aryans they are, are perfectly right to refuse using them.

Pashtuns and whatever is east of it have loanwords and heavy too from English - and you're okay with it, let it be.

Also, your Pashtoguyi and Urduguyi people are proud to have arabic loanwords, to that extent that some Urduguyi people takes pride from claiming (falsely) that "Urdu is a mixture of arabic and turkic". Then is it okay? But Persian has got loanwords from brother languages and is it not? Get a life. What they do resembles me a clown making people laugh at him.
