You have a very impressive list there. I also like Nashenas. Ahmed Zahir is not 'classical' in the same way, but his voice is connected with some early memories of mine, so he'd be in my 'pop' addition.

And from Pashtunkhwa, the old Khyal Mohammed, Gulnar Begum, Kishwar Sultana, Haroon Bacha and Gulzar stuff is also very good.

Some clever person might put together a reasonable collection of MP3s of all of the above and be kind enough to share .

yes yes yes ....Khyal Mohammad another one I'm looking for. I'm not really into Nashenas, not that he's bad but he puts me to sleep. Too many ghazzals.

hey would you mind? it's hard to find some of this stuff; I want full albums if you have any.

Parents used to have 78rpm stone records that played on old-style gramophones - I think of Kishwar Sultana and old Indian stuff (Shamshad Begum, I think), but anyway after several moves, including International transfers and things - things got lost/left behind/given away. I've been through records, tapes and CDs, but nowadays it's really difficult to get old stuff in MP3 format. I like some new stuff, but my heart is almost always touched more by the older classics. I believe I'd need specialist kit to transfer recordings from stone to MP3. They've got to have these kinds of CDs in Peshawar (of old stuff) that could be easily ripped to MP3.
