A woman arrested after the discovery of the bodies of two young children in a house in south-west London could remain in custody until Saturday, police said.
A 10-week-old boy and a 14-month-old girl were found in the property in Killarney Road, Wandsworth, on Wednesday evening.
Police said they sought extra time to question the woman, in her 30s, who was arrested on suspicion of murder.
Post-mortem tests gave no formal cause of death and more are planned.
The suspect's custody time limit was extended until 12:00 BST on Saturday.
Metropolitan Police officers believe the children were smothered. There were no visible signs of injury.
Wandsworth Social Services said the young victims were not known to the authority and were not on an "at-risk" register.
Neighbours said the family had moved into the semi-detached house a few weeks ago.I believe the sun should never set upon an argument.
