I think Killzai wanted to express the process of urbanization that goes hand in hand with adapting to new social structures while leaving some parts of the culture and habits of the rural places behind.

He just used some very undiplomatic and to an extent chauvenistic terminology.

Peshawaris, Swatis, Kandaharis, Kabulis, etc. are not very strong (obviously some rural ones are but I mean the urban ones as a whole) in their practicing of Pashtunwali and many consider it "backwards".

And obviously Nangarharis and Kunar people are good, but they are different to Paktiawals somehow.
i guess you have a point there. i mean, how often to you come across a 20 something year old nangrahary or kabulay who lives in europe and is severely addicted to naswar. considering the importance of naswar in your life, i am assuming it is a symbol of pashtunwali to you.

random question "killzai"...why don't you get a life?

What an incredibly divisive topic. Each province has different kinds of people. To claim XYZ province is "more Pashtun" than ABC province is the exact reason why Afghanistan is in such a political turmoil. What's next? The only real Pashtun tribe is Zadran? Then Achakzai is a fake tribe. Then the next innovation will be claiming that Yousafzais are not Pashtuns because they are French, etc, etc. Work on unity, rather than setting up these absurd threads. There are some Paktiawals that I know, that prefer to speak in Farsi over Pashto. They are my neighbors, now does that mean I should in an ignorant way begin to claim Paktiawals are not proper Pashtuns? There is no such thing is "pure Pashto and proper Pashtunwali". That term is subjective, and you should darn well know by now that in Pashto there are multiple ways of saying the same thing. To claim the Kheen dialect says it proper over the sheen dialect is just another way to cause division in the already divided ethnic group. Both dialects are beautiful, and I can assure you Swat follows Pukhtunwali just as good as those in Kandahar or Paktia. For the sake of whichever God you believe in, cut it off.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

                Shamlawaar saib,

what should one do with a "high shamla" if one´s kids, family and nation is starving while being a subject to the hungry wolves around them?

Certain views on this forum really make me upset.

From my name you know I am from khost, the only difrence is that Khost Pashto have lesser dari words, like we say rain=shigara Kandharis say baran and door=dara kandharis say darwaza and you have many other words, but for the rest Khost peopel are not that difrent, only I can say Khost peopel are really strict about marrieng a tajik or Hazara, bacuase they consider them not Afghan, they say they are foreigeners...
The only Pashtuns that have totaly lost Pashtun culture are from Pakistan and Jalalabad, Paki PAshtuns act sometimes like Punjabis or like brainwashed wahabist arab ****, Jalalabd peopel act like farsiwan, they also speak more dari than Pashto.
