of all the objections that one might have against this kid's character, you choose his inability or unwillingness to choose a pashtu nickname to prove his fake pashtunhood??Originally posted by Yasmeenaah View PostSG aka GOE aka aempratoreyqabrestaan... but why did you ( a true Pashtun) use a Farsi word qabreston? I am not an expert on Pashto but I think that there are at least few words in Pashto for graveyard
If you used one Farsi word you could also use the Farsi sentence order and then your fourth name would be qabreston-e emperotori
You are a linguistic. You of all should understand one's admiration for a language that is not nessacerliy one's mother's tongue. Farsi is a beautiful language and a Pashtun admiring it does not make him less of what he is. I did not expect this type of garbage from you but thanks from removing the misconception I had of you from my head.

I have to disappoint you one more time DZJ - I am not a linguist.
And maybe one more time - I don't think that Dari is a beautiful language and I don't like it from all my heart. Even my Dari teacher says that when I speak Dari I sound like a Pashtana speaking Dari. De gustibus non est disputandum.
Is GOE a fake Pashtun? I don't think so. He always emphasizes his Pashtunhood so I'm always surprised when he uses Farsi names.دلته دم او قدم دواړه په حساب دي - پل په لاره غلط مه ږده بې حسابه

I know. But from my point of view, when I learn Pashto, if possible, I want to know Pasho words, not its Farsi or Arabic replacements. Even when my Pashto prof says an Arabic/Farsi word I always ask him about a Pashto word.Originally posted by shadowgoverneras for the parsi words, well pashtuns do use so parsi words and that doesnt change their level of pashtunness.
Ah, when you call me goley I know you are a real GOE

Okay, my bad.. Whatever they call a person who wastes their time learning random languages that they will never make any use for through out the entire course of their lifetime. I find your obsession with pashtu and the Pashtuns rather cheap all of a sudden. You make it seem like you are desperately trying to please some one. As if you are seeking someone's approval at any cost..Almost like kutiya sher.

You are right DZJ saying that I try to please someone. Not desperately, but I do. It's one of my professors. She devoted her life to Afghan people, especially Pashtuns. You won't read about her in Wikipedia. She is too modest. Being a retired professor she overcame unimaginable difficulties to create so called Pashto path in the Department of Iranian Studies, to bring qualified Pashto teacher from Afghanistan etc... She also tries to pass her passion on other students. Now she has 2 students. I am one of them.
I've already experienced a lot of good things from Pashtuns. In fact only good things. They are my close friends. So why not to learn more about a country and culture of my friends?
I also think you know nothing about my plans etc... so you can't say if I ever use Pashto and other knowledge. Well, I already help Pashtuns and Tajiks in Pashto. So it is not as useless as you think.
Random languages - Arabic, Hindi, Dari, Pashto, Persian, Russian - do you really call them random languages? Speaking these languages you are able to comunicate in the whole Central Asia. So you and I have a different definition of randomness.
Please feel free to say more about my cheap obsession. I hope you realize that your tendency to criticize other people says a lot about you and about your past, maybe more than you think. Especially your attitude towards weaker ones is significant.دلته دم او قدم دواړه په حساب دي - پل په لاره غلط مه ږده بې حسابه

i intend for it to be that way.Originally posted by Yasmeenaah View PostI hope you realize that your tendency to criticize other people says a lot about you and about your past, maybe more than you think. Especially your attitude towards weaker ones is significant.
while i am not tempted the least bit to give you an extensive insight of the subjects that inspire me, i will tell you what does not fascinate me and single bit. the idea of a 45+ year old woman who claims to have learned multiple languages to help others suggesting that having knowledge of a language other than the one that an individual is born to is a form of a weakness of inability to fully contribute to what it is that they are supposed to be. i find that hypocritical, cheap and distasteful.
now you either actually believe what you said or took a cheap shot at that kid because you thought no one would catch you at it because claiming what you just did is a very common belief amongst the dumb****s of this forum, either way, it was a very idiotic thing to do.
you want to know what weakness is?? pretending to be yet another idiot while in company of idiots from the fear of being cornered for having a different opinion of things. yes, the package of being appropriate by the definition of some does tend to deprive one of having the decency to stand up for truth instead of going along with the flow (regardless of how cheap and demeaning it might be at times) for the sake of being received pleasantly, but i will not be ashamed of having possessed it in the past because my package came with an expiry date. you have every reason of being ashamed of yours since yours seems to have the stamp of permanency all over it. look at yourself..helping the world become a better place, my ass, help yourself by not being a hypocrite first, then worry about the world.

DZJ, have you heard the saying of M.Twain starting from words "Never argue with an idiot.."? Why do you argue with idiots? Don't you know that you won't change them? I thought that your time was too precious to be wasted among idiots.
Well, nice to know that that being among idiots does not affect your dignity
