"As we stand at the edge of 2012, it’s obvious to all that “staying” is no longer an option. It is also apparent that the military must be suffering from amnesia, because the head of U.S. Joint Special Forces Command (JSOC) recently endorsed an increase in the number of Afghan Local Police (ALP) from nearly 10,000 to 30,000, even though these ad hoc security forces have been accused of rape, murder, beatings, extortion, and savagery toward the civilian population. In other words, they’re no different from many of the warlords and fighters left behind by the U.S. and the Soviet Union to bloody each other in 1989.
“I’m impressed. … [The ALP is] a good program that I think is well received by the Afghans and certainly by the locals,” boasted JSOC Commander Adm. William McRaven on Dec. 10. “My instinct is we’ll probably increase it, but that remains to be seen.”
“Well received by the Afghans” is distorting things quite a bit. “Barely tolerated” seems more like it. This fall, Human Rights Watch (HRW) published an extensive report on the abuses of armed groups, including the U.S.-backed ALP and local militias called arbakai, many of whom reportedly enjoy special relationships with U.S. forces and American-funded contractors. I wrote about this and other reports by Oxfam, The Washington Post, Stars and Stripes, and others here. Refugees International has also done quite a bit of research in this area."

i cant say all Afghan soldiers are ike that but it is a fact the majority afghan soldiers are there just for the 150$ they get for helping foreign invaders conquer their lands.

most of these are the worst of society brought together, they are kicked out of their village for misconducts.

in one video captured soldiers were saying their mothers bad dua was that they got landed in there and did this work.

what i find funny is this dezahrojam saying these people are protecting the country.Against who?they are actually not protecting the country matter of fact Dezahrojam doesnt want to face these soldiers cuz she might probably get kidnapped.

she probably is not familiar with realitites of AFG.

so bottom lin eso far ive heard these guys are in the army not because of some patriotic reasons but because they are poor and desperate.
the same goes for ANP who get even lower wages, aroudn 100$ a month.
i find it waste of afghan lives, and i think we see half how undisciplined they actually are.
it all comes back to the lack of patriotism and rampant poverty.

do you know how much an american or foreign soldier gets a month?

The guy is a strict follower of Afghan national army, doesn't show disrespect at all, if he meant to disrespect him he would not have saluted.

you should stop supposing but if you must continue because your brain is incapable of allowing others to think for themselves then allow me to entertain that thought one notch further...half of my head is bald and the other half not. i have a third eye on the back of my head and a burn mark on my forehead.

unlike some, i am not obsessed with proving anyone's discontent with anyone else... specially strangers that i know nothing about. i saw a man in a suit and a soldier and to me it didn't seem like one refused to shake the other's hand for the reasons that you and goe suggest. if anything, the two of you need to stop living inside your heads and come to reality...obviously you know nothing about military.

'your' ? what is that supposed to mean? you were born and raised in uk yet you don't understand the different between a pronoun and a contraction but you are an excellent expert in reading people's minds, figuring out their intentions, love and hatred for each other by looking at them..
i was in afghanistan four months ago to look after my father's responsibilities while he was ill and yes, i was very well protected. what did you do asides from sitting on your ass and criticise an army based on what you have been seeing on your television set from the comfort of your living room?
i might not be a hero but i am not a worthless coward of an idiot like you either.
