One of the reasons i support tribal system is because in places like afghanistan and pakistan where the institutions are not strong enough to feed the people, tribal connection and support system can help those in need. The whole tribe chips in to help each other like how the jews do. thats one of the reasons nobody is really poor in our immediate family. we have tribal fund set up for funerel cost, hajj cost and other emergencies.

I leave the house while it's dark and I come back when it's dark. I don't have the patience for bus stops. I remember from the days I was a student. It's really frustrating. I take the family van but I am afraid if I smash it somewhere my dad will take away my keyed for good this time. I have had way too many warnnings.

Thats nice... We have the same funding system and an organisation made for welfare of our people....
For example, if someone dies, so for three days all the food and other work is done by that small organisation which consists of 1t families... For three days the mourning family does not have to cook or get involved in any type of work... All the arrangements are done by that organisation... It is so helpful you can't believe...
Also we have an organisation which protects the graveyards of our village, clearing the streams to the fields, clearing the canals, cleaning the sanitation system of the village and many many other social works are done...

I felt never poor aslong as i have believed in the ones of Allah and the last day.
There may overcome one hardship, but you should stay calm and patience, and there may overcome you great days but you should be thankful to the one who gives the one who is the most high.

The one who runs after money will lose (quotation)
“If you want to feel rich, just count the things you have that money can't buy” (another quotation)
High achievement always takes place in the framework of high expectation.

Oh yea, not to mention the survival of thE fittest atmosphere of NY. Your own family would not want you to live with them.
true that except my whole family actually did live together in some small apartment. By the time i was born it was better, we had our own place but it was still cramped & the neighborhood wasnt so great either :P but literally all the other pashtuns/afghans were in the same area & in the same situations, and from what i remember we all really stuck together Then alhumdulillah eventually we got our own house, and the other afghans found better places too.
though i guess we werent as "stable" or didnt have as much as we do now i still miss having that community
