i used to own a casio keyboard and played well.... hmm and i also own a rubab..but i cannot play it.. its friggin hard to learn.

Yes , I believe You, it has a lot of strings.
I have never seen a Pashtun Rubab live, but only on recordings and photos.
Even though I was always interested how it is played technically.
Do not You have the possibility that some body teaches You at least the basics of Rubab play?
It would be great, You could later write for example Your own texts and melodies in Pashto..

there is only one guy ... in here who teaches rubab.. and I don't have the time to learn it..so the rubab is lying there in the box.. I bought it back in 2008... keyboard is way too easy..lol

i took a keyboarding class in grade 9. i learned a lot. how long did it take u to get good at it? did u manage to play songs like fur elise?

I find the rabab quite challenging as well. Maybe next time i meet my cousins, i will record them playing, and post a couple videos up as tutorials. Nearly all my cousins play the rabab, tabla, and harmonia.

i dont play rabab but i do like to eat kabab.
as for playing any other instruments,well i do own a synthesizer and jump in the studio once a week.

i will be honest. playing musical instruments or singing is not something that is encouraged in my family on either side. not necessarily something that i agree on but it is there and i have to respect it to some extent. my father did bring me a guitar once when i was younger. as always, i was extremely exited about it for three weeks and then the excitement was over. i still have it in the basement somewhere.
