  • Who are Wanetsi ???????????

Please share your knowledge and data as I for the first time heard about this Pashtun or otehrwise people Wanetsi

What I read so far about them is the following. Please add further

As a people group, the Wanetsi are closely related to the Pashto, the majority people in Afghanistan and one of the largest groups in Pakistan.

They are separated from the rest of the Pashto by their distinct variance of Pashto. Though there is some debate about whether Waneci is actually a separate language, the Wanetsi hold to it strongly and do not want to simply adopt the neighboring Pashto dialect.

Descendants of Jatts and other Subcontinental people who have been assimilated into the Tareen tribe and live in Harnai and Sinjawi, Northern Baluchistan.

Their language is Pashto with unique grammar and vocabulary, much of which is Indic in origin. They refer to their language as Tareeno.

It means they are not Pashtuns ethnically but linguistically and culturally they may be considered as Pashtuns????

I have heard the late Afzal Shauq Pashto free verse poet was a Wanesi---His son Olas Yar Khan is a Pashto singer---but has not sung a Pashto song for a while----

There is no conclusive evidence that says that Wanesi are of foreign origin---They are Pashtuns ethynically---probably, retaining the archaic Pashto from which the modern Pashto developed as mother tongue...
