Hamid mir insulted Pashtoon nation & now collective Pashtoon response

Hamid mir in his article published in JANG called Pashtoon nation worst than prostitute. JANG group is equally responsible for this insult. We request from ANP, PMAP and all other groups, online forums and Pashtoon youth to respond collectively and in civilised manner, here are few suggestions:
Firstly joint protest rally in front of GEO office in Islamabad and in front of JANG group in Karachi, respectively in front of Peshawar and Quetta press clubs, and in all small and big towns of Pashtoonkhwa watan, demanding sacking of hamid mir and apology from JANG group for this deliberate insult of Pashtoon nation giving three days time, if JANG group do it in three days than Pashtoon nation will be really Thankful to them but if they don’t than the next stage will be of following steps,
· Complete ban on JANG news paper, means I am not reading it, I will ask distributer not to drop JANG newspaper at my home. Same will be asked from friends and relatives.
· Main distributers will be asked not to keep copy of JANG news paper.
· Cable operators will be asked to stop all GEO TV channels in Pashtoon dominated areas of Karachi, in Peshawar, Quetta and rest of Pashtoon watan.

We respect freedom of speech and independence of media but it does not grant license to any anchor or writer to insult our nation. We are calling on ANP and PMAP leadership, social organisations, writers, lawyers,students and all Pashtoons to come together and respond to this MEDIA-GARDI.

Having read your artcile, published on the 24th of October, 2011, I could not help but realize, as I witnessed you demonstrate to your readers, what an imbecile journalist actually is. In these times of turmoil, and instability, where Unity amongst our different races is crucial, it's sad to see a person who happens to be at such a position as your un-deserving self is, make such idiotic statements.

The Tajiks, and the Pashtoons have shared an un-easy past in Afghanistan; so one can expect such statements from an ignorant fool, who engages in such petty 'Racial Supremacy' contests. What one cannot expect, is for a renowned (something that absolutely dazzles me how) journalist to quote such statement while he is writing for a newspaper which has a readership in millions across the Country. You chose to quote a certain Lucy Margin Edward, who apparently quoted a Tajik racial slur, to prove a point that no-one really understood. That speaks volumes for your journalistic credentials.

Here's an advice for your pseudo-intellectual take on understanding the situation in Afghanistan. Stop it. Go back to making Politicians fight in your 'Info-tainment' show. That would ensure you, and your channel the TRP that you people crave so much.

As for the quote, well, trust, or Aitbar as it is known in Pashtoonwali, is a core principle upon which we stand, and defend. Here's an excerpt for you to read.

Itbar which means trust, or guaranteed assurance or is the arch of society which is governed by un-written laws or conventions. All business including contracts relating to sale and mortgage or disposal of property, is transacted on the basis of trust or Itbar. Such transactions are verbal and are entered into in the presence of the village elders or a few witnesses. The violation of Itbar is considered to be dishonourable act, un-becoming of gentleman and contrary to the norms of Pukhtoonwali.

To conclude, I'd like to say, that for once, it was a pleasure to waste my time. Not because I feel that this mail will clear up your repulsive beliefs, but because I feel that every blow must be returned.

We as Pashtoons don't feel that we are superior to any race in this world. But then again, we aren't beneath any either. The day you understand this, you will understand our philosophy.

I sent another mail to the author that Hamid Mir had quoted, to find out, under what context had she used that Tajik proverb.

'Recently, a prominent journalist from Pakistan mentioned a \'Tajik
Proverb\' which he apparently, picked up from your book. I do not have
access to your book due to a number of reasons. The quote was
exceptionally hurtful, and something that I consider as a racial slur
against my people - The Pashtoons. Hamid Mir, the journalist, somehow
attempted to back his argument, by quoting this quote from your book,
and by using your name. I can provide you a link of that article, but
it is in Urdu.I therefore request you to clarify, what you intended to
state by using that quote. I do not have access to your book, and your
assistance would allow me to pursue this matter further here in
Pakistan.The quote was apparently from the start of the 10th Chapter.I
apologise for any inconvenience caused. Looking forward to a prompt
response.'

Dear Hamza,

I am hoping that my book will soon be available in bookshops in Pakistan, if it is not already. I hope that when you manage to read it, you will agree that the book is very much in favour of the Pashtun people, whom i felt had not been treated fairly following the western post 9/11 intervention in Afghanistan.

The quote was used to illustrate the differences between tajiks and pashtuns and was called simply 'Tajik Proverb'. I found it in a book published in the 1960s about the region. i think it was in the book 'Afghanistan: Highway of Conquest' by Fletcher. It was not thus something expressing my feelings but a mode of expression that has been used in the area for some time, even if it is not well known today.

I would be most grateful if you could forward me the aricle in urdu and i will try to find someone to help me see in what context the journalist used it.
