It's an informal way of speaking.

I always say "dear", or "ma'am". Once in a while I throw in a "sweety"

Dear DZJ, I am not an as experienced English speaker.
In my country Dear is a formal way(we say Hargeli), I do not know , isn'T it polite in English?
For close friends we use words like Jan(You have the same word I think), Axper(brother), Quyr(sister) and many others.


It is not meant in a negative way, if it disurbs or offends You, tell me how You'd like to be named. As I told even if my English is not so bad, I am not experienced in how You call people in places were You live.
I cited perhaps at the beging the meaning of my name, it means "Someone who greets the sun"

Arev means SUN and pashtel meens "to greet, to admire, to worship, to respect"

For example there are other words like it in my language:

Tseghapasht(someone who does everything best for his tribe or his nation) (tsegh means tribe)

Hrapasht(is referd to Zoroastrians)(Hur means fire) and so on





Excuse me, if You see the "Dear" as offensive - for me its just normal to use it.

What do You meen with Sun worshiping?
It does depend, I greet the sun as it gives light, life to every plant, and if You look at the sun You will smile, even if You do not like it.
I greet the Wind, if it brings freshness in the hot summerdays and distributes the seeds for making them grow next year.
I greet the water , that gives life and feeds every living with its pureness.
I greet the earth that is mother and home fore us !
also symbolically the Sun is bright and gives light, light is a symbol of trouth and dark for gnorance - that is why i look to the sun
