At my house we have marble and wood flooring, so wearing shoes is a good idea. But usually our guest do take off their shoes since we have rugs. But we never even say anything, whatever floats your boat, whatever you are comfortable with. We only have carpet in the bedrooms.

But if you are barefoot, your feet will get cold from the marble. Just to let you know

^^LOL. I just want my guest to be happy. If they like to wear shoes, i dont mind. If they like to take it off, i still dont mind. You are my guest and will be treated like royalty

LOL no really Angaar. When you come to my house you are going to ask 'where is the carpet?' lol

Right when you walk into the house, the whole entire foyer is marble. Then you step into the guest living room and dining which is wooden floor with a rug though. Then in the family living room we have wood and a rug. Then the whole entire hallway is wood. The only place you will see carpet is in the bedrooms. Where you men are sitting, there will be carpet and tooshak. So you dont have to worry lol you can take off your shoes :P

Like i said, our guest are treated like malikas lol. We never force our guest to keep or take off their shoes....whatever they want is fine by us =)

In complete agreement here. Anyone who passes a certain threshold in our house without removing their shoes will (1) be politely asked to go back and remove their shoes (2) risk not being invited again.

Besides I'm not interested in what brand of shoes people wear. Shoes were invented years ago to keep little toes warm in the winter for people in cold countries when they went out in the snow and to keep the snakes and scorpions away from your soles in hot places when crossing desert sands.

Shoes are outdoor wear and should be removed when going to someone's house. I mean ... come on ... what would you say??

I've noticed this trend.. that newlywed brides tend to keep their shows on for a few months or even a year or two.. whenever they go to someone's house for a melmastia or something. I know people who've been keeping them on for years now, tryna keep that naweh-naweh-spirit alive haha :D

Nah I don't think it has anything to do with Muslim or not..

I think it's just part of that little show-off phase.. because, you know, usually before the wedding, a woman doesn't dress up too much but when some get married she gets dolled up like there's no tomorrow :D You know, they die their hair, pluck their eyebrows, wear make up, paint their nails, wear fancy fancy clothes, a BUNCH of gold, high, shiny and expensive sandals/shoes etc. One, of course chi armaan ye wakhijhi, you know they haven't had the opportunity to really dress up all their lives because when they did, society would ask "Who are you dressing up for?!" And now they can answer that question by saying "For my husband!"
Of course those questions are never verbally asked, it is just a way of justifying their behavior. And of course, it isn't as much for the husband as it is for themselves, I believe.. because most of the time they sit with the women anyways lol And also, the in-laws want to show off with a daughter-in-law that is like a beautiful doll =)

LOL this reminded me of something.

A while ago there was a family coming for a proposal. And the parents were sitting down in the guest living room right. And i was there, and i served tea and everything else. So i sit down and i was looking down at the ground looking like a good girl :P and it was winter and raining out, so our guest took off their shoes near the door. And the father caught me off guard. One of his socks was bright yellow with weirdest designs on it, and the other sock was like a neon orange!!! LOL it was hilarious! i couldnt stop giggling i was looking down at the ground laughing the whole entire time, i couldnt help it. I was doing my best in clinching my jaw, to make my facial muscles tense so that i couldnt stop.
