Osho - don't get mad at her. These are words that she has found - she didn't invent them.

I understand where shes coming from. If someone sits there and tells you in front of everyone, over and over again, how smart you are for example - you will think you're smart and get a big ego and stop studying perhaps? Who knows. Or you may become too confident - which can set you up for failure. So, It is better to say it without this person knowing so they don't boast over themselves.

The verse is a bit harsh, but I think it is not literal. I think it just means..this person will not be benefiting you but praising you in a certain way.

Lol, no, it's not that you shouldn't say good about people. It's nice to say something good about someone, though it's better to be said in their absence. This way less harm is likely to be done. When we praise one another to our faces, thoughts of pride and such are felt. Also, the response of happiness felt by the reciever, thus accepting the praise, can lead to a lack of humilty and humbleness.

      If you get me sis.

I understand this can be a hard concept to grasp, I was ever so slightly confuzzled when I first learnt and read of this, but to me it makes sense.

Just a reminder to be careful.
What a joke Oh my God where it is said that its better to praise people in absence! Is it also a hadith or your own interpretation. How does a praise serve in adsence..what for we praise others if they dont know,,,,,how can we educate others if we dont praise them in their presence ,,how we will appreciate and motivate children and youndsters and friends and colleagues and employees,,really I cant digest this,,,,,,,,

No I am not mad at any one.She might have taken it from some one. I have nothing to do with her personally. I am mad at the people who invent this kind of rubbish an dcall it hadith. I now understand why it is famous for imam abu hanifa that he used to believe only in very few , some say, only 16 hadith. He believed in reason and Quran.

To praise soem one unjustifiably can lead to telling lie or pride or arrogance or whatever but just praise soem one cant be such a big sin with such a harsh punishment.

this so called hadith challenges the whole science of motivation and human resource development and HRM.

What sin and which punishment? There's no mention of either bro. The strong wording used is merely to indicate the potential harm it could do to one's heart and mind.

Sin is praising and throwing dust is the punishment and by praising you cut his neck and you destroy him as it is said in this so called hadith

that whoever praises his brother has "cut his neck", and in other narrations, "destroyed him". Other narrations command/urge us to throw dust in the faces of thse who praise us.

It doesn't mean literally, as in you're neck will or should be cut, or dust willshould be thrown in the face. It's more in the sense to show no favours are being done.

The phrases are used mainly for emphasis.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!
