My father left Afghanistan while he was still a teenager during the mid 1960s. He was orphaned by 15 and was mistreated by his mothers family. He lost his inherited land.

He stayed with friends for a while, recieved informal schooling...enough to learn Quran, and Pashto and Farsi.

He spent ten years in Pakistan until the mid 1970s and then went to Kuwait

No, not all Afghans who migrated did so because of the war. Not that theres anything wrong with it. Some people who could escape did so
