If pakistan/Afghanistan merge?

Many foresee the eventual unification of Pakistan and Afghanistan in their entirety. Both countries have diverse populations with strong Pashtun(Afghan) minorities. Many scholars point to the fact that stability in one country is directly tied to events in the other. Both countries in fact, already share strong trade, economic, cultural, linguistic, religious, political and historical ties. They have been united in the past on several different occasions. Afghan and in particular Tajik traders and scholars regularly travelled to the Indus in ancient times and plied their trade. Scholars point out that its not a matter of if the two countries unite, but rather of when they unite as the two countries histories seem inextricably intertwinned. Such a union, would prove beneficial in many aspects. The Afghan (Pashtun) ethnic groups would finally be united but be balanced by a myriad of ethnic groups. Traditionally, when Afghans were united in a nation of their own, they have often been bogged down in internal warfare and tribal feuds. However, when part of a multi ethnic state, they have often flourished. The economic potential of such a confederation would be enormous and help propel both countries forward economically particularly for Afghanistan, but Pakistan would also benefit considerably. Such a move would also stabilize the region as a whole. Often what one country lacks, the other has, eg. Pakistan has a surplus of food while Afghanistan has shortages of foodstuffs. Afghanistan has an abundance of untapped natural resources and offers strategic depth while Pakistan often lacks them. The two countries where united as recently as the 18th century under the Afghan Empire founded by Ahmed Shah Durrani, an Afghan born in Multan, in the province of Panjab in modern day Pakistan.

I would support it only if there is more balance of power, right now for example in pakistan, (punjabies) have most of the power, If there is a balance of power between all indic and iranic populations, then i would support the idea

nah it won't won't, we pashtuns will be a minority and will have to adopt to learning Urdu punjabi, Pakistan History and that bull**** etc, I don't like this Idea one bit.
The way Pakistan is going is not good aswell.

^ but the problem is that even eastern pakistani cities have many pashtuns, for example karachi has 6 million pashtuns (the most in the world) and Lahore has 2 million pashtuns, what will happen to those pashtuns if Punjab/Sindh seperate from KP and baluchistan? Many of them have businesses/jobs in these cities

this is nonsense. if such a union were to be based on islamic brotherhood, then i would be for it but even if the slogans were islamic, the intentions would be otherwise. pakistan was supposedly created for muslims and islam and we have seen how that train wreck has turned out. since it would not be a genuine islamic union, ethnic factors would still play a part and pashtuns would still be a minority. in the absence of a unified caliphate, the only advantage of a state like afghanistan would be to protect the rights of pashtuns. for all the bs that has happened in afg, we are still better off than living as a minority in a land of the munifiqan.

as for the economic benefit of it, if neither country can have its **** straight on its own, combining 2 troubled economies would not help anyone. this goes especially for pakistan which is an economic joke, and has no reason to be with its large population, natural resources, and inherited british institutions.

why stop there? ...South Asia isnt the center of the world? Why not make eventual Unification of Muslim lands from Morocco to Indonesia.....then maybe you'll have a meritable goal. Otherwise you're merely posturing.
