  • Google control?

I have noticed in google that some recent articles in the news section especially in regards to Afghanistan are pushed back even before older articles. For example, an article dated today June 4th may appear after a June 3rd article. Take into account that the settings show the most recent news.

Am I speculating too much, or do you think the government is trying to control bad news out of Afghanistan- news that shows the failure of NATO?

    I don't get this problem.

Are you sure you clicked on 'advanced search' and instead of 'sort by relevance' you selected 'sort by date (newest first)'?

If its set on sort by relevance then you will get articles that are older appearing before more recent articles.

I just tried it on 'sort by date (newest first)' and did not get your problem.

      okay, I got it.

In general though, I have noticed there is a clamp on 'bad' news from Afghanistan to some degree.

Sometimes, you actually have to go a news website like RT, PressTV, or Voice of Russia to read the recent news.

Yeah, I myself have doubts regarding Google News, to find the good news you have to do a bit of searching, usually the more popular mainstream news channels like CNN, Fox, BBC etc are at the top and the way they write their stories are completely different to the minor news outlets (which have to be found by clicking on 'related news articles').

But it is good to have a variety of news sources.

I use BBC, Xinhua, RT, Al Jazeera, Asia Times, Guardian, Associated Press, Daily Mail, Press TV, Financial Times, Global Post amongst the minor and regional news outlets.

I never make a conclusion on a news story that I read from just one source.

Every news outlet has an agenda.

You cannot trust RT for proper reporting on events in Russia since one journalist got fired for doing a story that wasn't favourable to the government. Similarly for Xinhua, Press TV, BBC and others.
