is something wrong with taking blood samples from a person by inserting the needle in the back of their hand where the veins are a lot more visible than the arm? if no then why do they go for the arm even though it's very tough to find some people's veins there?

Well I guess,it isn't wrong. In fact, when they can't find access in the arm, they go for the back of the hand, which is just more painful but can have excellent veins..Arm is easier, still, to secure the needle in place, and the vessel is also larger so could be accessed easily.
