  • Saif: it's creepy seeing all those dead bodies. Hope u don't become desensitized to human death and forget that the bodies had a soul, were loved etc.

Forensics is like über cool. U totally could come on telly on one of those cis shows. Perhaps the Miami one. Lol. XD

    • When you see the dead bodies you get used to it...if you didnt become desensitized to it everytime u see the dead body, you will cry or not be able to examine it properly then. So its a balance, you understand the tragedy but you have to get on with your work.

      • Saif, I can appreciate that. So how was the first time seeing a body..cutting it etc..the smell? Was it shocking? Is forensics anything like they show in the movies? Don't u scared of all those dead bodies around u?

        • Well in my first year we had dissection of old dead bodies, which have some chemicals added to the dead body to preserve it. The smell at first was so disgusting and just seeing a dead body was like shocking. Then like they would show anatomy on that dead body.

Now in 3rd year forensics was more difficult as these are fresh dead bodies and the wounds are really shocking. Smell is not as bad as dissection but you can see the bodies as real humans compared to dissection. But after a while you get used to it, still i get a sick feeling especially once when 3 dead bodies arrived in one go from the same house/family. they were all shot dead that nearly made me faint for some reason if you saw it. It is gruesome..blood and then the autopsy is just like a butcher where you cut it open and check the intestines, brain or whatever. Once we went to an exhumation where they had to dig a dead body out of the grave that was the worst smell ive ever smelt soooo strong i cant explain

You dont get scared but you wonder that before they were alive not look at them..its sad sometimes but you just have to see them as another case that needs investigating

Autopsy is not cruelty. Many times a person is shot dead in those places. If you do not do autopsy then the criminal can be free and not punished. Because you need autopsy to prove the dead and circumstances of death which will be used in court as evidence to convict the murderer.

But like this kinda stuff is one third of your course. The other 2/3rd involves other stuff like nowadays pharamacology, pathology +slides and clinical work where you have to improve your history taking skills from patients. But like in Peshawar most patients are illiterate and its really difficult to take history.

One case was a woman in paediatrics ward who had a child that was really small for his age. We found out that at birth the baby was crying, so she stopped breast feeding and gave him orange juice. Now his growth is permanently retarded. Like look at the ignorance over there...just by that she ruined her childs life
