Faye another good point but you prayer for those who are lost who don't know, who have lost knowledge, but as a muslim i know at the age of 14 to 15, i understood everything , and what sin is ect , quran talks about the punishment equal for men and women, if i do something on purpose then repent then do it again, well then my place is in hell to be honest thats where i shall live then for eternity and no one can save me not even my mothers prayers.

      Good explanations, Kakargirl.

There is not anything more important to be thinking about in life than to
      avoid being sent to Hell.

All decent religions agree about this fact.

Here is evidence from Hazrat-i-Maryam. When she appeared to the 3 shepherd children at Fatima - note the Muslim woman's name of the village ! -
Portugal on May 13, 1917, almost a century ago,
the eldest girl, age 10 or so, immediately asked about 2 friends of hers who
      had recently died.
The first girl was said by Hazrat-i-Maryam to be in Heaven.
The second girl - HOWEVER ! - had apparently been a little too free with
      some village boy.

As a result, Hazrat-i-Maryam looked sad as she answered "She will be in Hell until the end of the world".

Can you imagine hearing that sentence pronounced about anyone, let alone oneself?

One can be in Hell for what seem to humans to be small sins.
But to Allah [swt] they may be great.

One should not be flippant ever, and work much to preserve one's purity.

Whoever laughed at -Gulalai's remark is clearly mocking the concept of purity.

Furthermore, on July 13 of that year, the 3 children were actually SHOWN a vision of Hell.
They way they described is terrifying. They couldn't stand the horrific sight and screamed.
This vision confirmed many Westerners' belief in Hell, a belief which had been decreasing over time.

Catya reminds me of my head teacher in my all girls school, she was english mrs wallace, she told us once she had two daughters one she was very proud and close to who was a dr, but the other one she had disowned being only 13 at the time all the girls were curiious why she disowned the other daughter, she then told us that shes a actress and has come in films like tutti frutti helter skelter ect so i'v never watched the actual movies , but i still remember how disgusted mrs wallace was at her daughter.

Parents like Mrs Wallace are a good example of NOT COMPROMISING when
even children go badly astray -
that is rarer and rarer to find these days.
But in fact when a family member of any sort goes off the deep end into bad stuff, rather than putting on a sugary smile, one has to put down their foot

and avoid associating with them if reasonable and possible.
            Sometimes it's not.
Today's school of thought says "be nice no matter what" - but
it's like smiling at the devil
when one needs to be avoiding the devil
who has probably taken over that relative in some form.
If one doesn't want contamination then best to steer clear of that individual
til they really change, not pretend to change [as many do].

It depends on the sins, the moral repercussions and the social context.

In the social context of what this person is doing; she is not a Muslim. because she accepts something wrong as acceptable; though having it clearly expressed that it's not.

As DZJ said; God's forgiveness doesn't mean one can go ahead and indulge in moral wrongs and then come back forgiveness and then do it again. That not only cheapens the value of forgiveness but cheapens the value of morality.

i read that being a person who forgives is favourable to allah. it is a good thing from what i have understood so far and allah is the final judge.

Some good arguments, Scimitar and others.

One angle that you all probably don't know is that Turkey HAD become so
degenerate in some ways by the 1980s that on every street corner,
on every bus, sitting on all tables, were
Turkish newspapers with women in very little dress splashed over the headline section, making it look so incongruous when a father of a family may be
reading inside the newspaper but passerbys would see that picture and roll their eyes.
However this was so universal in Turkey that most Turks were jaded by this and barely noticed anymore.
But many did complain about this bizarre situation.
Even conservative Turkish newspapers did this.

Finally this practice ceased, after much agitation from
                  Muslims, no doubt.

But for many years, the whole society had to live with this.

So in this sense, this is not an entirely new phenomenon.
But as Scimitar pointed out it's being made into a huge deal
by the media in the West [which also doesn't remember that
time of really bad photos of sleazy women as daily fare]
in order to sneer at Muslims due to their conservative morals.

I understood that year why she was chosen to be a head mistress of a muslim girls school because of her beliefs, mrs finch was the same mrs burke, mrs green, mrs firth mrs upatis, and mrs chandler all good women, yet they were christian women not even catholics .

^ Interesting. Perhaps they were from the church of england which at least
in the last century was quite conservative. Today....I won't even talk about that!

Catya all i knew was they were conservative women, and they would tell us off if we giggled too much , or behaved like boys by pushing each other, they would always say ladies dont behave like this,i remember a girl brought in a newspaper, because it had a article in it about muslims the girl got in trouble for bringing in the newspaper as it was the sun which is considered a bad paper, mrs wallace gave a whole assembly then on the paper, how girls will never bring is such papers and clearly said she would leave her husband if she even saw him holding such a paper.

                            kakargirl !
You are so extremely fortunate to attend a very proper school like that for
real ladies - they used to be more common,
but almost have vanished today. In America for sure.
Our prep schools even are nothing like what you describe.
Prep schools are pretty liberal in many ways.
Maybe Miss Porter's, if that's still around, a finishing school for girls in NewYork.
Even there, I don't think the teachers would have been
so well brought up themselves to impart this to the girls.
Only a convent school in America would have been like this.
But there almost aren't any more where nuns even teach or take
serious roles in formation of the girl's character.
Though there's a little bit of a comeback starting.
Because many nicer families miss this type of elegant training that
you have gotten - feel very fortunate indeed !

Dzj I - if aimed at me then all your thoughts, projections of energy and wishes are boomeranging
R-R-RIGHT BACK to you this, this minute !

And that too is contextual. It's referring to not holding grudges. Not letting people get away with immorality left and right. We leave such ideals for Christianity.
