it just makes the gene-pool smaller right?

anyways i wouldn't marry my cousins but cousins are still non-mahrams so why are you all so shocked?
Every cousin marriage i know, turns out just fine....as normal families.

Cousins differs from family to family. My cousins from mothers side are like my brothers, we grew up in one household. My cousins from fathers side, were complete strangers to me. I only met about 10 of them, the rest i never seen them, talked to them, etc because its not normal to interact with the male cousins......they stay as strangers to you as anyone down the street.

                you mean ...in breeding...

its ok if you do it once in a while

but successive generations of inbreeding is not good.

In breeding sounds like "the hills have eyes" I have the same mentality as they do. Thats about all I share.

In my district 90% of population are of one tribe so obviously they will mosty marry among themselves. As the district has 0.6 million population so it cant be termed as inter-marraiges.
Strangely cousin marraiges are not common in our area, usually non-pashtuns like syeds, sheikhs and karigars are indulged in cousin marraiges.

Eh being of one tribe is one thing, freaking being related to every single person in your extended family through 5 distinct ways is a different thing. LOL

I really don't think the next generations are going to continue this if all their parents are cousins (at least in my family) because, uuh, if your cousin's father is your maternal uncle and your cousin's mother is your paternal aunt.. and you have kids with that cousin.. you don't have too many genes to chose from. No bueno.

Daa zma lewanay Zrra gorah, daa sta lewanee Mina..

The reason say for a father to have his daughter marry a cousin is obvious- so that his daughter is safe from potential abuse from in-laws.

But, this causes problems which can be avoided. It is almost like a brother and sister marrying each other.

Your cousins are like your brothers and sisters in a way.

also, tribes need to marry other tribes to get rid of tribal rivalries.
This is the most idiotic remark on this forum. Give me sources where your cousin is the same as your brother or sister, and give souces where mental retardation is high in such marriages. Albert Einstein was the offspring of first cousins, and he himself married his first cousin.

Cousin marriages are common in all tribal societies. It originally became custom to keep wealth inside the family. Even Darwin who married his first cousin and pioneered the study of genes said that there is no evidence of a biological disadvantage. Genetic defects are caused when the offspring aquires a defective gene from one of the parents whether the parents are cousins or total strangers.

But on a different note there is a story I am trying to find where in Britain, there was instances that women who went to a sperm bank to have a child, those children who grew up having different mothers but were fathered by the same sperm donor then married without knowing they were marrying their half brother/sister. When they found out, they were completely shocked.

So idiot, there are much more weirder people than you. Now you can tell people you have something in common with Einstein.

Heres one with twins separated at birth but there was a story a few years back about the sperm donor.

British bill designed to assist homosexual couples to have children of their own.

                              Separated-at-birth twins get married
Stirs opposition to abominable Human Embryology and Tissues Bill, designed to make it easier for lesbian and gay couples to have children through “assisted reproduction”

LONDON (AFP) Fri. Jan. 11 - Twins who were separated at birth and adopted by different sets of parents later married each other without realising they were brother and sister, a peer has told the House of Lords.
David Alton, an independent, pro-life member of the Lords, said the brother and sister were granted an annulment after a high court judge ruled that the marriage had never validly existed.
The Catholic politician -- who discovered the case after talking to a judge -- used it to highlight perceived deficiencies in the government's proposed Human Embryology and Tissues Bill, which is currently going through parliament.
The bill is designed to make it easier for lesbian and gay couples to have children through assisted reproduction, recognising same-sex partners as legal parents of babies conceived through donated sperm, eggs or embryos.
But it contains no provision to require the identity of the donor to be disclosed, potentially meaning a child could not be told they were conceived by assisted reproduction.
Alton raised the case of the married twins -- who were born after IVF treatment -- during a debate on December 10, details of which only appeared on Friday.
"There are implications for everybody involved, but the needs of the child will always be paramount, and it is right that we should therefore make the process as transparent as possible," Alton told the Lords.
IVF -- which increases the chances of multiple births -- meant such cases could become more common if the law does not require children to be told they were donor conceived and have access to their genetic history, he said.
"The right of children to know the identity of their biological parents is a human right," he added Friday.
"There will be more cases like this if children are not given access to the truth. The needs of the child must always be paramount."
The identities of the twins and details of their relationship and marriage have been kept secret, but it was known they were separated soon after birth and never told they were twins.
They only discovered they were blood relatives after the wedding.
