^ it depends on your program of studies, for engineers in canada, there is a program at undergrad level "Engineers Without Borders"

It is the best thing you will do in your life, and your resume will be throughly blessed

Also in Canada most foreign volunteering programs are targeted towards south Asia, Africa and Latin America

well individual volunteering is hard especially if you are looking to get everything sponsored through an organization..also it depends on your skill base, believe it or not lot of people apply to volunteer and most of them only get to sell samosas on friday

But i would suggest the best place for you to start, if you are really considering it, would be your student counsellor..Other than that i guess the ladies here especially Mahzala might be able to help you out.

It is a good experience though, you do feel like you accomplished something

          ^ True Europe...particularly Turkey.

An Afghan friend of mine did study abroad and volunteer work in Turkey last summer towards her major. She loved it. But since its getting a little unsafe abroad now, look for a country that you have relatives that reside in them.

You should volunteer to help out your own people. Either Muslim, and/or Pashtun people.

Then again it's a "free" country, you can do whatever the hell you wanna.

i don't want to go there to help the poor so i can feel good about myself. i want to get out of my comfort zone so going somewhere where my family might be is not going to help.
kingkhan thanks for the suggestion but i don't believe in **** talk like that. non pashtuns are just as much human beings as pashtuns. not to mention, poverty tastes the same everywhere. selfishness is what is causing all this evil in the first place. i don't care if i don't get recognition for the good that i do.
we make bricks in afghanistan with my cousins but that is more of a hobby and less charity work.
