  • Anyone ride a motorcycle?

I want to get my bikers license soon. i dont own a motorcycle and probably wont for a couple of years at least but i am excited. i want a harley cruiser instead of a crotch rocket, i dont care about speed. i just wana sit back and feel like im not gonna die from going to fast or the bike being too responsive.

    i want something like this....

There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

i was taken on a ride once. it was not half as fun as it looks. very very scary for someone who is not fond of heights.

I am no bird, and no nest ensnares me.

non commercial would cost less if he was in charge himself which he plans on doing. right now it's n herat but soon it will be in qanadahar.

i imagine its more fun for the driver than the person holding on for dear life.

once you get your learner lisence, better find a driving school must practice for few hours. its not easy to get the lisence for motorcycle. you better go for a small bike before you go on that monster, small bikes are easy to handle.

i have already completed learner courses and have been on the road with my cousins ninja 250. i might even get my own ninja 250 before purchasing a harley. i have also been on some cruisers, they are much more relaxing to ride.

A Harley is effing expensive man, but if you do get one you should get an outfit like Arnold in Terminator 2. You know the glasses and leather jacket and all...

I get what you're saying about comfort but I seriously think sport bikes look a lot better. afghan is spot on about the handling btw, some of those cruisers weigh a ton...

lol what kind of bike were you sitting on? On most bikes you sit less than a meter above ground haha.

in UK get CBT - the first step in the test. you must have this. this gives you right to ride 125cc machine on road with L plate. either buy cheap bike, borrow one or hire one.

                      practice figure of 8 riding
slow speed stability like riding at walking speed
emergency brake from 30 mph using only front brake (however if you use rear brake as well, make sure not to lock the rear wheel - that is automatic test failure!)
practice lane discipline, ie be on the right when road curves left and vice versa - this gives you maximun distant visibility of oncoming traffic
crossing junction or any maneouvre, turn your head to look, do the 'look of death', it is a final of triple checks 'look' before maneouvering, to be extra safe
in normal traffic ride in middle of lane like a car unless turning or on curves

keep practicing and do your test.

you could of course learn from an instructor, will cost you a lot circa pounds800+

make sure you get a decent pair of MOTORCYCLE gloves, kevlar reinforced jacket and a new helmet. examiners can make prejudiced decisions on your test fate if they think you are not safety conscious and just another speeding biker wannabe.

i have been riding superbike category bikes for nearly 20 years, only one accident where i had 'highside' incident, but survived to tell a tale.

alway be alert, plenty of idiots out there to crash into you. ride safe, if you slip at high speed, the friction will scrape your flesh off to the bone, and if you come off at speed over 30mph and slide and hit the curb - broken bones, hit is sign post pole and you may snap you back, if you slide under oncoming car . . . get it, it is very dangerous, be very very careful

then there are tank-slappers, front wheel wobbles, lowsides, highsides, hitting a bird at high speed, slipping of diesel, losing it over road camber and wet white lines - all potentially fatal and if you suvive these you will know what 250+beats a minute heartbeat feels like.
