    Stand with the Eleven

    I'm sure most of us have heard about the Irvine Eleven, especially those of us that live in California. For those that are unaware of the "Irvine Eleven" situation, it occurred last year when the University of California- Irvine welcomed Michael Oren, the Israeli ambassador to United States to speak. At the event 11 students interrupted his speech to speak against the injustices committed by the speaker and his propaganda. During the event, the MSU students received death threats, and other hateful, racist comments. The students left the event peacefully, however they were arrested and threatened with academic punishment.

    That was basically an intro into the situation and what happened last February. Earlier this month, The Irvine Elven were charged with two counts of misdemeanors by the OC District Attorney's Office. Currently, UCI's MSU is suspended for one quarter and continues to face probation for two academic years. The OC's DA office charged the Irvine Eleven with conspiracy to disrupt a meeting. The misdemeanor charges, announced in a news release, followed a grand jury investigation. These charges are pending an arraignment for the students in March 2011.

    aaahhh, democracy... are they kidding? this sounds insane. freedom of speech..................

      I know right? This is the perfect example of how "Freedom of Speech" is pure crap. Those Eleven didn't even do anything, that was violent or outrageous. They just intruded a meeting. And the Jewish Organization on that campus, ALWAYS interrupt MSU events. How come those individuals don't get punished by the UC committee's or the DA's. Pure BS.
