A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai
For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."
The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!
tropical paradise... sea green coral reef waters... clear skies... just humid enough so that the light wind feels good.
Then I wake up and remember I am in Admin Khan's domain, the North East. Terrible foot ball, horrible basketball, old decrepit roadways, people who scowl continously, old trees that fall on cars with the slightest provocation, and food that the locals think is good but is actually bad. lol.

Move to NY. Not only will you be closer to me, but most of your problems listed will be resolved. I'm sure as an M.D you can find a great opportunity here. Besides, the local diaspora will keep you entertained and busy.
Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.

New Yorkers don't drive. With one of the largest subway systems in the world, driving for most is rendered useless. I don't even know why I drive.

I need nature scenery Admin. What is that close range? the adirondecks, Lake George... that sort of set up is what I enjoy if i stayed local. If you ever come down south to visit Ill show you fields as far as the eye can see, deep creeks that kids swim in, slow paced life. Wide roads (this was the hardest part about NYC was its crazy crazy driving and huuuuge population) diminish my sense of agoraphobia and clautrophobia that I get in cities.
And although we clog our arteries faster down there... something about having an Olive Garden and Red Lobster every 5 miles is comforting.
Look at how mean you guys are in NYC to us doctors!
"And hospitals in cities and certain regions, like the Northeast and California, tend to get lower ratings, raising concerns that their revenues will be reduced simply because patients in those places are more disposed to grumble about things that a polite Midwesterner or Southerner would forgive."

I think the best theifs I ever encountered were in Detroit. It was Ramadan, I went in to do the tarawih and I parked on a very close side street. Luckily my car was old and not too valuable. They found it days later stripped of everything... even the gas petals. I had to find humor in that. Oh those days... lol... I was young and stupid enough to not think about the fact that mosques are always in crime ridden areas. Luckily the mild reimbursement was enough to help me get the exact same model jalopie... Hondas... gotta love em... they can run forever.
