  • do you think children should be smacked?

Just watched this programme about an agreez family who saw someone smack their kid for misbehaving and they were in floods of tears and thought about intervening.

        Yea.

In Madrassa my imam used to slap me/beat me with a broom if I made a mistake in the Quran, misbehaved, it taught me discipline.

I don't agree with smacking , its about how you raise the kids, kids are little people as young as 3 they understand being patient with them is imporatant giving them praise is impotant , telling them in a good way that something is wrong from a young age works effective.

Though I don't really agree with yelling or putting kids (or anyone) down either. Self-control is harder, but definitely necessary in parenting. Reacting in anger is not a good thing. When you expect goodness then it more often than not prevails, everyone needs respect.

yes, some adults should be too...
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

Everytime I used to mess about my parents would take off their shoes/slippers/whatever was on their feet and just start smacking me. A few times my dad would actually punch me and mum would lay a few solid slaps. At the time I hated it but I realised why they did that. As I got older I respected them more not to do anything wrong. My mum still gets in tears now because she regrets hitting me when I was small.

I know families where they beat the absolute living daylights out of their kids and yet they still mess about. Personally I think there should be a limit, too much of hitting is not too good and too little seems too lenient. If a kid does something wrong you've got to show them they did something wrong otherwise they will never learn and turn out to be the street "gangsters" of today.
