  • Rotweiler or Doberman?

I want a good loyal guard dog sometime in the future but i dont know which to get, they are both my favorite breeds.

All dogs are loyal. Why can't you just get better looking dog. Like an Alaskan Husky or a German Shepard or a Black Labrador?
"Do not lose hope in adversity and complain that God singled you out for punishment, remitting others guilty of worse sins. Your present state could very well be His intent to elevate your spiritual station. Or He could just be testing your faith. Everyday that you persevere, you grow closer to perfection. Thus, your present despair may be the beginning of an infinite blessing". - Shaykh Abdul Qadir Jilani.

not all dogs are loyal. german shepards are nice and i might go with that. huskys are not ideal guard dogs, and it gets too hot around here for a husky. black labs are nice dogs, but would make terrible guard dogs.

dogs like german shepards, dobermans, and rottys are bred to be guard dogs and are insanely loyal to their owners.

there would be no kids around, but even if there were i wouldnt mind them being around a rotty. the breed is fine around family and people it knows.

the worst breed of dog to have around kids is a chow chow, they look funny but they have an unstable temperment unless trained properly.

Rotweiler, my dad used to have one guarding his business a long time ago. The dog liked me, but it was big and scary at the time.

Rottwielers, all the way....My uncle had a Great Dane and a pair of Rottys at his farm. The Danes were lazy as hell and the Rottys would run circles around him all day..it was a funny sight..and these dogs are very energetic. And though there's a perception that Rottys are dangerous around small kids, I think it all depends on the owner and the training. Train them well and you can easily control them.

while i dont plan on getting these dogs any time soon, i am leaning towards a rotty. i may just get a doberman and a rotty. i used to have a border collie but felt sorry for the little guy cuz he was cooped up in a small environment, eventually i gave him away to a farm owner after about 6 years. not to mention i never used him for anything other than just being a pet, which is pointless. this time i am looking for some good guard dogs.

both of these dogs are pretty thick in terms of "dog intelligence" and have sub par temperament.

A German Shepard is what you want unless you fancy a soar throat everyday trying to get your dog to follow a basic command.

Or, if you're going for sheer coolness, try a rhodesian ridgeback, these badasses use to hunt lions back in the day.

                              oh that's a tough one...

Rottweilers grow up to be something like 200+ lbs ...you'll get a good work out just from holding on to their leash.

But doberman are more beautiful ... personally, I would prefer doberman ...simply because they are more intelligent..and more energetic than the sluggish rottweiler ..who eats a lot and does little.

if you are looking for an aggressive and super loyal dog - Pitbulls.
