Yes, i heard that they got a fatwa from clerics to enter.

It's also worth mentioning there were Pakistanis in Juhaymans group.

From what I have read juhayman was a very noble person who was one of those guys that tries to be such a revivalist that he got caught up in his own ways. His problem was that he became an extreme like person who would do things like enter into the Prophet's mosque with his shoes on in order to revive the Sunnah. Things like this caused fitna and he would have arguments and brand those that advised him not do so he branded them government scholars.

Quite a few people amongst Juhayman's followers had a dream that he is the Mahdi. At first he refused to believe it, until he was pressured into believe that he was.

All these people were good people, but they were lead astray by the Shaytan. In the end he repented before his sins. May Allah have mercy on those who were killed and may he subhanu wa ta ala forgive Juhayman and his comrades.

With all obnoxious comments aside, wasn't Amir Abdur Rahman Khan essentially subservient to the British?

Yet was ruler of Afghanistan, what are the implications of that, care to elaborate?

Everything you've "come accross" comes back to one unscrupulous pakistani source. Pakistani's were undoubtedly fed horsesh1t at the time - just as many of them are today, so much so that this happened (see link below) - please read, is this a good enough source of how confused the public actually were at the time?.

Breaking news and analysis from time.com. Politics, world news, photos, video, tech reviews, health, science, and entertainment news.

Lastly, this incident was wiped from history, the real people who carried out the op, as consummate professionals did their job, packed up and moved on. They let the Pakistani's claim it as propaganda for themselves when infact they contributed very little.

These were the same people who under Zia-ul-Haq masscred Palestinians in Jorden. The same people in WWI barraged Kaba under British colonial command. And why go far, when the war between Yimen and Saudi Arabia broke out, they again fought for Saudia...

Saudi petro-dollars are the primary motivation.

Here is an example. About the 1965 Indo-Pak War, there is a general lack of knowledge in Pakistan and most probably also in India. Below is an article that includes opinion of independent sources about the balance and outcome of war.
